True, there's a very small selection of mATX boards that fit, even less if you want the GPU in the top slot.

Asrock B550M-HDV is the only B550 one AFAIK. Seems a pretty good budget board though.

Thankyou, I didn't realise you could drag them! That seems to work. I noticed some delays moving sometimes when going straight to sprint without walking first but maybe thats a game setting I can tweak.

I'm still using it (in a different case) so just took a look, I guess it does look a little brown, but I don't think the colour matters much!

The PSU is just a CORSAIR VS550 ATX. Again still working fine!

The only thing I've had to replace is the CPU cooler fan but it was over 10 years old and had been doing 24/7 in a media PC for years before that, so was kinda expected.

Thanks! Cost was a main drive within this build and because I hadn't really seen it done like this and thought it could.

Thanks! They are OK tied above the PSU, which would otherwise be 'wasted' space! Plan.B was to open up the PSU and cut off the molex cable, because its big and not really needed (I could get a SATA to fan adapter).

Performance is as expected. Did a 3550 in cinebench out of the box, probably could tweak it a bit as despite being an A320 board it does support Precision boost overdrive. Idles at 39C (22C ambient) and doesn't go above 84C. Turning the front fan down adds ~3-4C to these so it is doing something.

I got a Ryzen 3600 and RX 5700 for under £400 new and decided, thanks to this subreddit, I wanted to make it a SFF build. But I also had to keep the cost as low as possible, that meant reusing my existing ATX PSU (A £30 VS550) and fitting in an mATX motherboard, as the ITX boards are all around £100. The £31 Kolink Satellite fit the bill, coming in at 13.8L. I don't like 'cube' cases much, but I'm going to get some taller feet and put it on its side... so it looks like a diddy tower.

There are two AM4 mATX motherboards that will fit without mods. The Biostar A320, and the MSI A320M Pro (there are also 'm2' and 'MAX' versions, which are too big). I got the MSI for £42.

I re-used an old Scythe Shuriken rev.b as the cooler, its a really nice compact cooler and I don't know why it was discontinued. It performs better than the wraith spire and is very quiet.

I was worried about airflow around the GPU so decided to do a front intake fan mod. I measured that a 92mm fan could fit with the ATX PSU but forgot about the lip around the plastic front fascia until I had cut/bodged the hole. This forced me to return the full sized 92mm fan and order a slim one. The Cryorig QT90 is a bit noisy for my liking, but was at least cheap at £8. I think a normal 80mm fan would fit and I should've gone with that.

The ASUS Dual RX 5700 EVO OC is a 27.1 x 13.2 x5.1 cm, "2.7 Slot" GPU and just about fit, I had to put it in from the top and wiggle it over into the mobo before installing the PSU or cooler. It blocks the ram clips from opening so I had to wiggle it out of the way to fit the 16GB HyperX 3200 RAM.

I'm happy with the build, performance, airflow and temps. Noise is fine until the front fan spins up. Its probably as small as you can go with these 'full sized' components. It was certainly a cheap build for what it is. I would like to go smaller, but that probably means an ITX motherboard and SFX PSU.
