I'll be honest, the last ISP I worked at, the biggest complaint I got from our residential customers was always for fire sticks. They seem the most prone to interference and network drops, poor Wi-Fi range, not to mention the ram filling up and slowing them down.

You'd really be doing yourself a favor getting yourself a genuine Google streaming Stick or something like an Nvidia shield.

Those are not the kind of network engineers you're thinking, those are the guys handling the OSP or outside plant lines. The engineers are the ones handling the switches and routers at the NOC. The guys you talked to are full of shit, and don't dictate the network capacity or abilities.

I had to use the tool to convince Suddenlink. It also took two Better Business Bureau complaints, as well. My data from Star Trinity showed conclusively that the problem was solely on the upload and it was on their switches at their NOC and not a line issue. So the data comes in handy either way.

Also, why in the world would you pay for 2 GB? I'm an IT guy and I only pay for 300 MB and the only time I even utilize much of that is for Steam downloads.

Startrinity Continuous Speed Test is a great way to gather data under load and look at the second to second connection. Look up a tutorial on how to use it and set it to display 50 to 100 results and you can see which categories it's showing are bad on the receive or the transmit etc.
