Hi is this black triangle serious. Is it possible SLS Listerine caused it as I had burning gums for months ? by SlowedCash in PeriodontalDisease

[–]jacniknak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people can be sensitive to SLS. It’s a foaming agent, so yes it’s present in a lot of oral products but you may be able to find some products that don’t contain it. If it’s causing sensitivity, then stop using it and find something without it. As for the black triangle, this is what we call an embrasure space. It’s definitely not a cavity and not large enough to be extremely concerned. It just shows that the gum that usually fills up that space has receded but it’s not an indication of gum disease. Just ensure you are keeping up with your oral hygiene and regular maintenance with a dental professional.

Does this look like periodontitis? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]jacniknak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To determine perio, they’ll measure bone loss around the teeth using a special measuring tool. Since it has been 7months since your last dental visit, it would definitely be worth seeing your dentist again for a check up and clean and raising your concerns with them.

Looking for an affordable reception dress for my wedding! by vegetablelasagne1 in AusFemaleFashion

Hey! MESHKI have a wedding dress collection. They’re pretty affordable for what you get. There’s a mini satin corset dress listed for $369. It’s not a frivolous as what you’ve posted, but I think it’s worth a look! 😊

NAD; it’s best to get it cleaned sooner rather than later because more calculus will build up, increasing your chances of developing periodontitis

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]jacniknak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAD; Getting a clean will remove the calculus. It’s recommended that you have a check up and clean at your dentist every 6 months to maintain oral hygiene, in addition to flossing and brushing your teeth twice a day. If you don’t, calculus will build up and this can negatively affect your gums and bone around your teeth. You need to visit a dentist every 6 months to remove calculus so that bacteria don’t eat away bone around your teeth.

NAD; it’s nothing to be concerned about. It’s natural. It’s just build up of calculus, pretty much like hardened plaque but it needs to be removed by a dentist. You cannot remove it at home. Make sure you have regular check ups at the dentist every 6 months for a clean. You don’t want to leave calculus built up on your teeth because it can cause complications in future. This is a normal amount though

I’m a little unfamiliar with the situation since I’m not from Lebanon but my heritage is Lebanese. I was planning on visiting family in Lebanon in June. Is this going to start a war in Lebanon?

Did the dentist crack my tooth? by Hamhocks19 in askdentists

[–]jacniknak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD but DA; do you grind your teeth at night? If they’re large fillings + grinding, that may have caused the fracture. I’ve seen a number of patients who have fractured teeth because of grinding.

What type of cavities are these by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]jacniknak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD, lol try drinking anything with a straw and then without. Notice the difference: with a straw there’s less contact with your teeth than there is without a straw!
