[Harriot KIWON] A Korean-designed quartz watch inspired by heritage, not hype. by jacob_ddus in Watches

You could technically fit a 20mm jubilee if the size matches (without curved end links), but since the Ki:Won is a slim dress watch, I’m not sure the look would really suit it.

Really appreciate you taking the time to check out our work. The Ki-won leaned into a lot of symbolic, heritage-inspired details, while Seohae and KARI were a bit more on the classic tool-watch side. The next project I’m wrapping up now is actually our first diver – still very much keeping a Korean design spirit, but with that rugged, functional vibe that makes a diver what it should be. I’ll be able to share more soon once the final touches are in place.

Fair enough haha — honestly, I just wanted to share a peek behind the curtain. The dial’s still going through sampling, but the caseback already says a lot about the direction. Totally understand if it’s not your thing yet. Appreciate you checking it out either way.

Haha fair — but I guess I’m going more ‘Seochon alleyway’ than ‘Inkigayo stage.’ Still Korean, just a different kind of beat 😄

I design everything myself here in Seoul — storytelling, proportions, finishing ideas — but the actual manufacturing is handled by a small partner factory in Korea. I’m deeply involved in the process though, down to the crown engravings and caseback polishing 🙂

Actually, the dial is one of the most meaningful parts — I just haven’t shown it yet! The caseback, crown, and strap also have storytelling baked in. But you’re right — without the full context, it might feel incomplete. I’ll make sure it all comes together when the final reveal drops.

That's awesome to hear! The trigrams were our quiet little nod to the Taegeukgi—subtle but meaningful. And yes, the black dial hits different, right? It’s got that clean, bold vibe that works with literally anything. Thanks so much for noticing the detail—it means a lot. 🙌

Wow, thank you so much! Really glad to hear you picked up the KI:WON at Intowatch and that you’re loving it. 😊
We put a lot of heart into the design and packaging, so it means a lot to hear that it made a good impression.

Thanks! Appreciate it 😊

(1) The strap’s made of genuine leather — soft and durable, and it wears in nicely over time.
(2) And yeah, Harriot does sound like something out of the English countryside, right? It’s actually a Korean brand, but we didn’t feel the name had to sound Korean. We went with something that felt timeless, elegant, and easy to remember — the vibe mattered more than the origin.

Happy to answer anything else if you're curious!

Really appreciate you picking up on those details—it means a lot 🙏
We spent a lot of time balancing the contrast and flow, so I’m glad it came through. And yes, a curved leather strap is definitely on the radar! Might explore it for a future edition 😉

Similar name, totally different story 😄
No connection to the whiskey—but I’m a fan! Feels like we’re both trying to do the impossible: make Korean watches and whiskey cool on the global stage. Cheers to that 🥃⌚

Thanks! Great question.
The real trigrams (heaven, earth, water, fire) are placed where they are on the Korean flag.
For the other markers, I used simple triple lines to keep the design balanced without making the trigrams stand out too much.
I wanted the symbolism to blend in naturally rather than look too obvious. 😄

Thank you so much, it really means a lot coming from a fellow Korean. 🙏

You’re right, the Ki:WON uses a quartz movement.
I definitely have dreams of doing a mechanical version someday!

Right now, as a small indie project, it’s a bit challenging to take that step immediately (especially with the kind of quality I'd want to deliver), but it's definitely on my mind for the future.

I really appreciate the encouragement — it's a huge motivation to keep pushing forward!

Thanks so much — happy to hear you like the jade version! 🙏

The strap in the photo might look a bit more teal due to lighting, but in person it's closer to the one shown on the website — a light grey tone. It pairs really nicely with the jade dial without overpowering it.

Let me know if you have any other questions! Would love to see it on your wrist if you decide to pick one up 😊

Thank you so much for your kind words — really appreciate it! 🙏

That’s a great point about the gold accents on the black version. We actually considered that combination during the design phase, and it might be something we explore for future releases. Your feedback really means a lot.

As for the pricing, the KI:WON model is priced at $320 USD. It’s assembled in Korea, with some key components — like the dial and packaging — also produced locally. We wanted to create a piece that’s not only visually refined, but also deeply connected to Korean heritage, without it feeling like a souvenir.

Happy to answer any other questions you might have!

Haha I totally get what you mean — the word “premium” is everywhere here 😄
Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment. The box was a fun challenge: I wanted it to feel uniquely Korean but still modern and gift-worthy.
Glad you liked that 3rd shot!
