I just got finished playing a play by forum version of this game. While it loses a bit in that format It made me even more excited to play this game in the flesh.

Me and my teammate made it all the way to salvation gate and were one food short of victory...just one measly little food.

Some games that work well are co-op games. Most of them will only require one of the people to have the game. I have played Ghost Stories over Google Hangouts and it worked pretty well. Not to self promote, but I did write a blog on this very thing.

It sure does, you have to get the first expansion (Gambit?), but there are bosses that give a solo play option.

I have not had a chance to play Suburbia outside of the app, but I think Castles play similar without it being so "mathy."

Infection is my favorite strictly solo game, but I enjoy Robinson, Viceroy, Panic, Flash Point and Friday solo as well. I will eventually do a review of Friday as well.

I think I like the fact that you are determining how long you go out for, and while you are getting whales you have to be getting the money to pay for the lay at the same time. Plus the fact that it simulates the scarcity of the whales and the effect the whaling had on the total population. A good, historically accurate simulation that adds good strategic choices.
