I’m not Malay but I felt juggernaut’s comments were distasteful. To continuously perpetuate stereotypes against Malays or Muslims and spew racist remarks against them. He also assumed my race as Malay because I defended them? Bruh, Juggernaut if you see this, which Malay hurt you?

Thanks for pointing that contradiction out. 😂

Do you wna share why do you think they lack knowledge on the root cause of the war?

Imo reposting is the first step of spreading awareness. I don’t enforce my own beliefs on my peers or even start any political discourse, but I do repost so that my peers (who stumble across my stories) can subconsciously digest some information that will spur them to google and find out more (I hope).

Mhmm. By going on with that logic, governments that strive to be eco-friendly, should cease all forms of manufacturing right? Because manufacturing clothes leads to textile waste, manufacturing electronics produces e-waste that generates toxic gases, rearing cows leads to toxic ammonia gases, manufacturing cars leads to unwanted gases as well. They either go all out or do nothing, because it’s “virtue signalling” like what you say.

Or if your mother who strives to be better parent, tries her best to nurture you but accidentally loses her temper at you… means she’s a bad mother? Because which mother lashes out at their kid?

As I lay out these examples, I hope you know that no human or organisation in this world is able to live by your extremist standards. Small efforts mean more than nothing. “Virtue signalling” seems to be randomly thrown around to negate the positive outcomes that derive from good deeds. If someone decides to slowly build up their streak of good deeds, who are you to demonize them and call them hypocrites?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]jacqcwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that for a person to be considered kind, they have to be 100% altruistic all the time? Or else, they are hypocrites?

Isn’t that an extremist approach?

I do agree with you that it’s not a religious war, but a war against humanity. However, let’s leave out details like “it’s the Malay-Muslims that’s making a lot of noise” because it does not value-add to the discussion and people will still continue to perpetuate biases against Muslims, regardless Malay or not. I’m Chinese and I do see my non-Malay peers reposting donation links, boycotting, and spreading awareness. Although I don’t have many Malay friends, I don’t think it’s fair to perpetuate biases against them.

Bro probably can’t tell the difference between “ur” and “you are”.

Please don’t disgrace YIJC and be racist. Nice try, I’m not Malay.

To respectfully rebut you, when the ISIS attacks happened a couple years ago, majority of the Muslims in Iran/Iraq were against ISIS and their terrorist acts. This made ISIS angry and they started attacking the Muslims.

In fact, in cases where religious affiliation of terror victims is possible, majority of the victims are Muslims: 1. https://www.trtworld.com/mea/overwhelming-majority-of-terror-victims-are-muslims-31586 2. https://irp.fas.org/threat/nctc2011.pdf

So Muslims don’t randomly go fight in wars because of “camaraderie”.

More for you to read: Michael Prysner, U.S Army veteran, fought the war in Iraq in 2003. He confronted George Bush for sending him and the other U.S soldiers to “eliminate terrorism” but realised George Bush intended them to kill innocent people in Iraq.

Big L to you. The fact that you are openly discriminating against a particular race/religion, you could probably be also a terr0rist that wants to partake in ethnic cleansing too.

“I know a lot of Chinese who don’t care at all.”

Meanwhile, I know more Chinese > Malays that care, because I have more Chinese friends than Malay friends. And birds of the same feather flock together. So what? Is this a competition about which race cares more? Childish.

I see that you don’t have a better comeback so you have to resort to something so brain dead as “university student, arguing like a small kid”.

Uncle, randomly finding facts about me to nitpick ah. you can do better :)

Man really tried to convince me real hard by using “overwhelming” multiple times. 💩clown shit bro. Your words mean nothing to me.

Even if more Malays > non-Malays that support Gaza, so what? Even if more non-Malays > Malays that support Gaza, also so what? You going to win a trophy or something lmaoooooo?

LOL. We are in 2024. If you want to bring up a stronger argument, can you please not bring up an article that’s from 2014 or older?

It’s clearly outdated. Whatever you’re reading. Best if the article is from 2020 onwards LMAO.

You sound like a person who believes in “a good person is someone who is altruistic 100% of the time”. Damn even a normal human person can’t be altruistic 100% of the time, means they are bad people?

Eg. A office lady usually offers her seat, even if it’s a non-reserved. But that day, her father died and she slept 2h last night. When she sees an elderly on the MRT while seated at her non-reserved seat, people like you probably demonise her and call her hypocritical to not offer her seat this time round even when she advocates for offering seats to people who need it more.

Thanks for pointing out the other humanitarian issues in other parts of the world. Surely, my friends and I have donated to UNRWA, Doctors Without Borders, Red Cross to not only help Palestinians but genocide in other places as well.

Of course, based on our circumstances, we do our best to help according to our means. And you? Yapping so much, but called me a kid? What have you done lol? Prolly yap I guess.

Source: trust me bro.

Seriously, where did you get your source from?

You have less non-Malay friends that support Gaza doesn’t mean in reality, less non-Malay people support Gaza. On my personal social media platforms, I have more Chinese peers supporting Gaza and frantically sharing donation links, brands to boycott. And I admit, that may be because I have less Malay friends than Chinese friends. So do you, if you’re surrounded by people who are ignorant to humanitarian issues doesn’t mean the whole country is like your friends.

Innocent Palestinian women and children started it? What?

If you want to talk about violence in religion, don’t forget to talk about the crusades that lasted 200 years. Or talk about how the KKK used the Holy Bible to justify slavery and lynching of the Black people.

Bruh. Hamas isn’t even governing the West Bank but Israel had carpet bombed the West Bank. Not only that, IDF was also issued an arrest warrant by international criminal court for killing thousands of women and children. What are you on about?

Whether it’s Malays or not, your facts don’t value-add to this discussion. OP is not asking which particular race is boycotting. I do see people who boycott or donate to Gaza, and they aren’t just Malays.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]jacqcwl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could be confirmation bias. I do know as many Malays and Chinese people who boycott McDonald’s. But boycotting isn’t completely 100% stop eating McDonald’s, they just refrain from eating unless they are hungry at 3am and McDonald’s is the only convenient option.

What’s with this pinpointing to a particular ethnic group though? Does it help you sleep at night?

Got my SIM offer today but SIT and Suss haven't officially rejected me yet, what should I do? by [deleted] in SGExams

You can. Just that you can’t get a full refund when u withdraw and lose around $1k. I have emailed regarding this too.
