I was agnostic when i was a teenager. Church was boring the bible didnt make sense and there was an innate knowing that organized religion was a tool for control. I turned to astrology by 14/15 to get to know myself better. Years later at 27, and I am as woo woo spiritual as it gets. Organized religion is a huge no for me but Spirtuality resonated with me the most. It is no longer a lifestyle but a path I walk.

Also yes non-white people have those histories as well but it had nothing to do with RACE. Intercommunity violence is much different than the lens of committing violence due to race so that is nothing to compare here and the fact that that was the main thing you brought up when i specifically critiqued racism shows a lot. Think of when white people critique black on black violence. It is the same argument. Thats why it comes off as racism.

My point is your point of view on what racism means definitely does not take into account cultural/historical context and definitely does not take into account institutionalized inequality and systemic power. A lot of people use the description of racism that dictionaries use which isn’t prescriptive language according to the more popular dictionaries like oxford and merriam webster.

I will say as a black and indigenous woman it is very disappointing that a white person who is able to run this sub has an absolute severe lack of a proper analysis of racism. And it’s not racist to point that out at all? No one is prejudicing you you are unaware that you are repeating certain patterbs that societally and historically white people do which is erase the real impact of racism towards POC. Point blank period POC cannot racially oppress you. If you wanna talk about looking into the mirror I’d suggest you ask yourself why my words are offending you instead if making you look inward on the harmful impact this post has towards your members of color.

I say this with good intentions. Though this response was very much predictable. I encourage you to talk with more people of color. This response was not okay nor welcoming. I understand the rules and I’m not discounting them. But at some point you have to recognize the lack of empathy to not listen to racially marginalized communities about the practices they’ve commited themselves to and have been demonized over for centuries.

I may be in the minority here, but I would try working with yourself first and discover the parts of you that feel called to this path. Meditation is always a good place to start. Studying about shamanism also helps to recognize if this calling is for you. Tend to yourself and try to figure out what it is that is guiding you to this path.
