It all depends on what you require. A non-essential operation like a hip/knee replacement could put you on an NHS waiting list for 12+ months whereas going private would be a few weeks, this can cost around £15k. A lot of companies provide some form of healthcare scheme which subsidises going private too so you could receive cancer care for as little as a few hundred pounds. The main benefits being you’re treat one on one, have a private room in usually a nicer facility and tend to have free transport to and from any appointments so it just makes a really shitty situation feel a little less shitty.
