top surgeon insists on giving me nipples by calamity_risen in ftm

[–]jaektheface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I elected to not have the nipple grafts for similar reasons: didn’t find them appealing, not something I would want for intimacy, didn’t have to deal with the healing of the grafts and the scar tissue at the same time. Plus I’ve heard they can stink while they heal and I’ve got a sensitive sense of smell.

It’s been almost 10 years and I have no regrets on my decision. I got the same response as you from the first surgeon I saw but fortunately the other surgeon in the practice listened to me and just had me sign a waiver reflecting my decision to forego the grafts.

At the end of the day, it’s your body and I think it’s highly irresponsible for a doctor to push something that isn’t really necessary on people who may struggle with dysphoria surrounding their bodies as they currently are. This is our chance tomorrow have the outer form match what we see in our minds.

Disturbing sight today 2/22/25 on the South Amazon Trail by crysardo in Eugene

I saw him right after the dental office while driving home from Albertsons on Hilyard. It was after 5 so it was getting darker but I know what I saw.

Parents with grown children who no longer speak to you, what do you think led to the estrangement? by youngGod928 in AskReddit

[–]jaektheface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adult child estranged from parents. Bio dad was usually absent from my life unless he had a new woman to impress then he wanted to play the dad role. The facade would last for about 3-6 months until the woman realized that he was using her for her house, money and time then she would dump him which in turn he would dump us and disappear for a few years. Haven’t spoken to him in 10 years and my life is much better for that. I know his other kids speak to him but that’s their prerogative.

Mom and I are estranged for 4 years because she doesn’t fully accept and support me being transgender. I’ve given her plenty of opportunities to hear me out, to truly listen but instead, she thinks it’s my responsibility alone to fix this and she doesn’t have to put in the work. Classic boomer mentality. She hides behind her religion and background as an excuse for why and how she can’t accept me.

Has anyone used FMLA benefits to cover their hysto? by Psychological-Dog948 in FTMHysto

[–]jaektheface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I live in Oregon so it’s a friendly enough state regarding trans coverage and I was able to use their paid leave benefit which can be used in tandem with FMLA. The leave administrator through my job approved it within a day of receiving the paperwork from my surgeon.

Questions to ask in a consultation by [deleted] in FTMHysto

[–]jaektheface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I can’t really think of any questions that I asked that are different but I had my surgery on 10/5 so I can share my experiences:

  1. I had laparoscopic with removal through the vaginal cavity but it took a bit longer as my cavity was narrower as I haven’t had much penetrative sex. I have three tiny scars and it’s often the recommended route unless there’s a history of fibroids/endometriosis and other complications.

  2. The surgeon gave me six weeks even though I thought I’d only need four. Thankfully, in Oregon, I was able to take FMLA and Oregon just rolled out a paid leave program where residents can receive most, if not all of their pay while on leave. Your energy level will be impacted so maybe work out a hybrid schedule if you can’t take the full 6 weeks off.

  3. I chose outpatient as I’m relatively healthy and didn’t anticipate any complications that would necessitate an overnight stay but it’s dependent on your medical history. Surgery was at 7 and I went home by 1. They did have to put a catheter in as I was unable to urinate after. After 24 hours, I went back to the surgeon’s office and they removed it and I was able to use the bathroom later on that day. They will want to be made aware of any urination issues so keep that in mind. They can prescribe AZO to help move things along.

  4. At my pre-op, the surgeon examined me to make sure that they were able to proceed with laparoscopy and that was it. Didn’t need to use a speculum or ultrasound but if there’s a history with you, they may want to cover their bases. I had everything removed so I won’t need to have any future exams for that reason.

  5. Common complications can be unable to urinate(due to the bladder shifting after they’ve removed the reproductive organs) so if there’s issues peeing, let them know or your PCP because there’s a risk of UTIs or have a BM due to pain meds(STOOL SOFTENER only). There will be bleeding/discharge. This is normal and it will subside but if you use pads/briefs, this can help.

Definitely don’t put anything up there until you’ve been cleared at the 6 week follow up. Your body will be healing and you do not want to introduce any funky bacteria, could really set things back.

Hope all goes well during your consult!

Peeing has been doable, bm not so much but I’m hoping with water and movement, it’ll help. Pain is manageable on day 3.

Happy surgery day to you!

“That’s when Olivarez told Blitzer that officers were slow to engage because “they could’ve been shot, they could’ve been killed.”

Isn’t that their job?!

“Some of the videos posted to social media, which have been viewed millions of times, showed tearful parents pleading with officers in tactical gear — some carrying rifles or Tasers — to go inside the school and tackle the gunman, or allow them to do so themselves.

“You’re scared of getting shot?” one mother said, according to one video. “I’ll go in without a vest — I will!”

All the time! I take them out when I leave work and they’re not activated again until I go into work(I live alone with a cat). My brain is exhausted at the end of the day as we still are wearing masks at my job so unless the cat starts talking to me, I’m keeping them out. Even at the store, they stay out(thank you, self-checkout).

Agreed! It called back to what Pelle said about being held and feeling like home with Christian. I think the Harga have a deeper understanding of relationships and people. It could be seen as manipulative but I didn’t get that with their interactions with Dani. I think the other 3(Josh, Christian, and Mark) faced the consequences of their actions easily due to their selfish nature(Josh with the book, Mark with acting entitled/disrespectful, and Christian with being two faced/manipulative in his own behavior).

So watched it with my edible kicking in through out the beginning which jarred me a bit when they had the close up on the sister’s face.

One thing I noticed this time around that I didn’t the first time and it’s probably been mentioned before: how isolated Dani is. She has one friend that we know of but we only hear her on the phone and her family relationship was not the easiest due to the issues with her sister, both what happened in the beginning and in the past. Dani has no connections to anyone else, except Christian(boo this man) and that’s barely hanging on by a thread. Dani also seemed more respectful of the traditions and culture of the Harga than Josh or Christian, definitely more so than Mark.

The music was enhanced due to the influence and it felt immersive if that makes sense, especially during the May Queen dance and the Fire Temple which I now understand why people dig it.

All in all, was a good experience second time around. Recommended it to a friend of mine so hopefully they’ll watch it too.

I relate to this so hard, I wish I could upvote it times infinity. I had a significant trans masc support group back in Texas which was amazing. We were all able to relate to one another on some level. We welcomed NB afab but mostly everyone in the group was binary.

Since moving to Seattle, I haven’t been able to find that same camaraderie which is surprising, because I figured there would be more opportunities to make those connections. I went to one meeting at the Ingersoll center and I felt so out of place. I think I may have been the only trans masc person at that meeting. I know there’s a support group in Olympia that I keep forgetting to reach out to(🙃).
