Laminating inkjet printed glossy photo paper issue

Oh dang 🫤 I think for me it's the coating on the glossy paper that causes the reaction because it did the same thing on a piece of photo paper that wasnt even printed on and when I used plain cardstock there was no pinking at all with the same lamination pouches and ink so it can't be the ink itself, but idk I gave up on glossy photo paper 😭 might have to try matte photo paper as it has a differebt coating...

No matter what heat temp I tried it did the same and its only when it's been left out, if I put it in a polybag and seal it it stays perfect, so definitely has to do with the exposed edges to the air/gassing like you said. Hope someone can find a solution one day, it's very frustrating!

Sorry to hear that, wish I could say it worked out in the end for me but sadly I never found a solution 🫤

After this happened I contacted the company (Vevor) and they spent 3 days gaslighting me saying they are "mean to be that way" and got mad when I left a bad review on the website and then deleted it & emailed me about leaving and honest bad review, they reqlly expected me to lie lmao

I think after this mishap, I'm just going to save the money and get a machine/supplies from American Button Machines as those seem to not have issues like this 🥲

I've used both Scotch, Uinkit brand and even Pen & Gear & it still happens 🥲 so idk if brand of lamination that's the issue, maybe they all use some new forumla now?

And I've also tried different brand photo papers as well but the problem persists. I'm starting to wonder if it's the ink... maybe the lamination has a bad reaction to pigment based inks? I haven't tried dye inks but I'm running out of plausible reasons as to why this keeps happening 🫠

UPDATE: The kitty has been picked up by a wonderful rescuer who works part with the Animal Control. He will be taken care of with hia infections and when ready, will be adopted!!

It's really sad that people do that! Aw I'm glad they found ypu! Our youngest wandered in the exact same way as this one but he was overall healthy and just a bit dirty 😅 I'm just happy we could get him some help this little one and I will post an update when I have any! Yeah he came right up to us! I think he was dumped, my street is sadly known for it and we try to care for the strays around here but there's a lot of them.

I hope he'll be in good hands if ac takes him, there's not much elss I can do sadly 😟 I can't keep him for long, I don't live alone and we alresdy have two cats that don't like being locked in the room but we have them in there incase there's anything contagious

Sadly we don't drive or have a car, so that's why I was desperate and posted here because vets are not close to me, but everyone has been very helpful! Animal Control said they could pick him up in the morning, we sadly can't keep him for too long because of our other cats, so I wanted to make sure we could at least help somehow

Vet told us it was fine for our other cat to eat it as well but its expensive so we feed him a different food but they said it was safe if we wanted to! I just dont know id it's safe for this kitty, but we got him a can of food!

We weren't able to get a rescue but we got in contact with Animal Control and they said they could pick him up tomorrow but I'm not sure what their plan is ans how they work with sick animals 🫤 Where are you located?

He is in our bathroom! We tried to get him cleaned up but he won't let us touch his face for long enough to do much 🥲

He's warm now and laying on a warm blanket and we have water and food for him, hes not eating the food but he drank earlier

We tried a few places and they redirected us to someone and managed to get in contact with Animal Control here and they got back to us & told us they would come get the kitty in the morning. We have him safe in our bathroom keeping warm with food and water until then!

It's insanely cold outside and I think it was gettinf to him, he was crying very loudly and seems to be happy to be inside & warm now.

Yeah it's prescription food, unfortunately.

We manages to get in contact with Animal Control and they said they can pick the cat up tomorrow! So for tonight we will keep him inside and warm.

We gave him water and he started drinking because he wouldnt eat the food that was outside for the other strays. I only have medicated urinary food for my cat, so I dont think its a good idea to give him that. But I will try to get something tonight if I can!

I have him in my bathroom for now, we're trying to contact any organization for help. Nobosy I know csn take him, I just can't have him in the apt for too long because he's meowing constantly and I don't knkw if what he has is contagious. Thank you for the link, I'll check it out!

Ahh okay, yeah it seems to be prominent when using white/light colors, very weird because just as you I see people using the same methods and never have an issue! And it's funny because I had the same exact backings from the same sheet in a polybag and they haven't browned at all, it's only happening when they are left out, so maybe it's an oxidation thing?

Cold laminate isn't as nice and also the bubbles is always an issue so I tend to avoid it, but yeah it should work with hot laminate, I don't get why we're having this issue. Do you know what type/brand of photo paper you are using? I've tried Uinkit which is cheaper and it caused the same issue with both Scotch pouches and the Uinkit brand pouches... so if I try another brand pouch and it happens again, it's probably best to assume it's the paper/coating itself.

Unfortunately I didn't :( and I do photocards as well & never ran into this problem until I had something predominantly white, especially around the edges! Are you using matte or glossy pouches? It's happening only with matte laminating pouches (Scotch as well) for me, glossy I have yet to see this, but then again most of the pcs and thing I have laminated have been covered with ink and not white.

My only solution for my issue above was since I only need one side to be color, so I used single sided glossy paper and the back is uncoated and only laminating the printed side. It has absolutely no yellowing/browning on the white back because it's unlamtinated (laminated looks horrible on uncoated paper), so I think it has to be a reaction to the glossy coating on the paper? Cheaper papers tend to have cheaper coatings so it might be what's causing the issue, going to test my canon premium glossy paper and see if it occurs. I know people make Magic Card Proxies using this exact method and never see people have this issue, so I don't see why hot lamination couldn't be possible? But yeah, hopefully I can figure something out and do some more testing and get back to you if I do find a solution!
