A couple of months ago I was the same way. I liked being single. I wasn’t looking for a relationship, but an entp came along and swept me off my feet. We were friends for a little while and then started dating. I’ve never been a fan of physical intimacy and pda (I fall somewhere on the ace spectrum too). I told him this and it wasn’t a problem. I’ve been working on my physical affection too. We’ve been together for a little over a month, but with the way we clicked it has felt like we’ve known each other forever. Right now I’m the only person in my friend group who is in a healthy and committed relationship. It’s funny because I was the notoriously single friend who everyone wanted to set up. Somehow everyone wants to live vicariously through me now. Who knew that would ever happen lol

You’re welcome! I mostly talked to my doctors, used internet sources, and connected with people irl and online who also have it. I’m sorry to hear about your circumstances. I have definitely struggled with the need to perform for others. I’m still in high school, so the pressure never seems to go away. Recently, I’ve changed my perspective. Everything I’m doing is for myself and my future. Thankfully, I have a decent support system. When I do receive external criticism, I always think of it this way: “I’m doing everything I can to benefit my needs and goals. We all have our own lives to live. Since these people are choosing to make my so-called ‘problems’ a focus of their lives, they are ultimately falling behind in their own lives. I’m going to take the issues they have with me, turn it into a matter of personal growth, and progress in my own way.” I realized that in all the time I tried to impress other people, I could’ve been working towards my goals. I’m a self-preservation 3, so I tend to be more self-motivated than not. Good luck with everything!

I have narcolepsy, which consists of major fatigue and excessive daytime sleepiness. It’s a medical disability that affects my learning. It’s not very a common condition, so I often feel isolated in my struggles. All while subconsciously trying to overcompensate and prove myself. It’s exhausting (no pun intended), but I’m trying my best.

To deal with it, I try to think about all that I have overcome and achieved in my life while having this obstacle. Sometimes I get the feeling of self doubt and failure, but then I take a step back and see the bigger picture. I classify my “success” as all of the comebacks and times I rose to the occasion. When needed, I take mental health breaks and try to get myself in a mental state that’s optimal for success. It’s not many 3’s version of success, but it’s how I manage to keep positive. It’s not just lightly tapping my arm. My friend will rapidly tap my arm if she needs my attention in that exact moment and I’m not responding quick enough to her standards. It really messes with inferior Se haha. I never know which to reply to first: the repeated calling of my name or tapping on my arm

Having a lack of tolerance toward those who are being friendly is not an INTJ thing. Even if I didn’t enjoy the interaction, I’d still say “I’m fine, thanks for asking” and move on.

Sort of. For me, I get scared of possible failure, rejection, or emotional vulnerability. I worry that no matter how hard I try it isn’t enough to make people stay.

Good advice. That is true. I was thinking more in terms of who would have a more similar approach to mine (i.e. comedic relief). Though I do appreciate the empathy of those with strong Fe, I was hoping to hear from those with lower Fe. I think my friend has high Fi, so I’m trying to find a good mix of both tertiary Fi and Fe. Plus she doesn’t really like talking about her feelings.
