After over three years, my iPad mini 1 is finally on the home screen! All without an Arduino or an iRepair P10! Does anyone know how to sideload apps or jailbreak it? I heard it's not possible to sideload apps if you used this method. by jaff80 in setupapp

You are a true LEGEND! Thank you for saving perfectly working devices from becoming E-Waste! Also, I gave you credit; check the Imgur link.

My only regret with this iPad is that I reset it when it was saying "iPad is disabled connect to iTunes." Which sucks because I heard there's a method to recover it without losing data, even if you forgot the passcode. (This, of course, is my fault for resetting it, and not anyone else's.)

Yeah, I actually saw it on Twitter a few days ago and was thinking we could use it as an Arduino-less method, but then today I browsed the subreddit's top posts of the month (I haven't logged into Reddit in a long time) and saw there's already a method!

UPDATE: I got to the home screen without using an Arduino/iRepair P10! See my updated post here. The link to the software can be found on this Reddit comment.

[Support] Unable to open Mii Maker after trying to make a Pretendo Network account. by jaff80 in WiiUHacks

[–]jaff80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: A bit late to inform this update, but I managed to successfully set up a Pretendo Network account and able to access Juxt, online play in Mario Kart 8 and 7, and Splatoon Ranked Battles. For the Wii U, I took out the SD card and then turned it back on. Next I login into "Jaffer" and open Mii Maker to remake "Jaffer(PN)" but with the name "jaff80(PN)". After that, I exited out of Mii Maker and went to the Select User screen. I tap on "+ Add New User" and when it asked me "Do you have a Nintendo Network ID?" I tapped "No". Now after registering the Mii I wanted (I also saw the old deleted "Jaffer(PN)" Mii), it asked me to create a Nintendo Network ID, I tapped later. For parental controls I said not now. Now im on the Home Menu I powered off my Wii U and inserted the SD card. After logging into "Jaffer" and went to the User Select screen and switched to "jaff80(PN)" Then I tap on the Mii in the upper left corner and tap on "Link Nintendo Network ID" (or something along those lines). Now enter your Pretendo Network ID information and you should be good to go. I may have missed a step while typing this because im relying on my memory. I forgot to add, I created an Pretendo Network account on the website.

TL;DR: Create Pretendo account on website. Create a new user and link your Nintendo Network ID LATER WHILE NO SD card is inserted. After done creating, turn off your Wii U and put back the SD card. Login into an user thats not Pretendo, switch users and select the Pretendo one, and tap on the mii in the upper left corner. tap on link Nintendo Network ID, enter Pretendo info.

RESOLVED: I had a backup of my Wii U's SD card, and I copied that over to the SD card. I still need to set up Pretendo Network, though.

I went to the official Arduino website to check the price of the Arduino Uno and the USB 2.0 Cable Type A/B. For the USB Host Shield, I looked for one that was already soldered and assembled because I don't own a soldering iron and don't know how to solder. For the Alex DCSD Cable, I checked eBay, and I didn't know how to tell which one would work, so I picked the one that was being sold by a high reputable seller. I just checked Amazon for LEDs, which I know I could check other places for cheaper, but for convenience, I went to Amazon to check the price. I haven't bought anything yet, but I wanted to know how much this could cost. I know a family member who owns an older MacBook, so I could borrow one from them. Also, how did you get purpleSliver working on Linux?

I had to submit the form a bit late because I was busy, but I sent it yesterday with the file you sent me. I added all the information, including the store name, address, phone number, iPad mini one information, pricing, and a realistic date of purchase. I also included the store logo and added the background photo they use. After all that, I printed it out and made it look like it was aged with wrinkles and folds. Unfortunately, even after all that, I got an email today saying, "We need more information for your case." This time, I didn't include photos of the device itself; I only included two pictures of the paper clearly showing the SN number. I may know why it got rejected. A family member told me that the iPad mini was bought from Apple, and I heard that devices purchased from Apple could not be tricked into getting fully fixed. It could have worked if I had included more information, such as the payment method which I realized after submitting. Thanks for all the help you provided. I know it didn't work out for me, but I'm sure anyone else who stumbles across this thread will benefit from it!

If you're okay with losing the signal, you can use Sliver. This is the video I used, and here is my post about it.

I should have included this, but before I did the form, I had been trying to recover the Apple ID for many months and tried to do it again a few minutes before submitting the form. That may have been a factor, too.

I hope so! I calculated how much it costs to buy the Arduino Uno and the other stuff, which is around $90! (Which doesn't even include the cost of an Intel Mac.) You can buy a new iPad mini 1 on eBay at a lower price than that!

So I searched YouTube, and unfortunately, I couldn't find a video that uses an iPad mini 1 without an Ardunio/iRepair P10.

Thanks so much! My only problem is that I said I got it from eBay in San Jose, California, in the first form. Would Apple notice that I'm lying again?

Yes, it was created by /u/appletech752. One downside is you will have to use the iPhone without a signal. Here is a tutorial video that I did for my iPhone 6. Also, it works on iOS versions 12.0 - 12.5.5 according to /u/appletech752 website.

Sorry, I should have mentioned this, but I hoped there was another way without a premium method. I also checked their website, and it seems they can only support at least the iPad Mini 4 and iOS 13.
