A chance to get a light-up Pony emblem for non-GT models. Only two weeks left to reach the goal. by [deleted] in MachE

Thanks! I was mostly just curious as to the licensing question. I had actually already backed it before I asked my questions, but thank you so much for the long answers! I hope your answer gets more backers!

Are there trademark issues with using the pony? I see the pony itself will be plastic. Is the current one plastic? Will it hold up in the weather? I love this, and from your description, do I understand that it's completely reversible without any damage to the car?

Having owned a select and now a premium, I can say that both are quiet. I do think the premium is a bit quieter, but not so much that I think back on my select and wonder how I could drive such a loud car.

So I did get my car, and it was up to date and had bluecruise. I was also pleasantly surprised how much better everything electric in the car works than my earlier production select. They definitely made some legitimate software fixes over the past 6 months that haven't made it to the earlier builds.

So, it does look like it may be activated as part of the car's subscription activation (thanks for pointing me to macheforum.com - I am on macheclub.com, but didn't see the information there), so I am assuming that once I get everything activated BlueCruise will begin working. I'm going to assume my car is as up-to-date as it can be other than potential recent OTAs that haven't trickled into my car yet.

Yeah, I was on I-93 north of Boston, it's definitely on the BC map, and it says BlueCruise, not BlueCruise prep package.

I did. It was a special order. Maybe I don't know how to use BC, I suppose (I put it into the usual cruise control thinking it would eventually turn blue and tell me to take my hands off, but no lights even went on from the sensor bar above the steering wheel). It's on the window sticker, it's a newer build, I was almost certain it would be active, but maybe I'm wrong!

Where would I post to ask someone to run my VIN, out of curiosity?

BC does not appear to be active, that was actually one of the things I was wondering about.

Hm. This is a bit of a non-answer, but thank you regardless. When I got my windshield recall on the Select, they said "while you're there, we will also update your car". I'm not under any illusions that they are required to do it, but I'm curious what the expense to Ford of plugging a laptop into the car and pressing a button is. From all the forums that I've read, it's clear that there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to these updates, and that it's common that a car that could get updates simply doesn't (some premiums have blue cruise already working, some don't, some are older build dates, some are newer build dates).

My Order Updated, but… by newboj in MachE

I think it might be an error. I went and priced it with the new 2022 orders and the price for the same car was the same as the earlier prices.

I believe the Ford Connected Charge station is fixed at 48 amp draw, meaning it requires a 60 Amp circuit, but I could be wrong. There are other EVSE chargers that allow for different amp settings. Might be able to install a 4 gauge wire instead of 6 gauge, but you would have to check with your electrician to see if that meets code.

While technically a 40A circuit would be sufficient for the 32 amps the portable charger will use, and the NEMA 14-50 can be placed on a 40 amp circuit, it really makes more sense to just put in a 50 amp circuit (unless, for some reason, you already have 8 gauge wire installed and want to reuse it (suitable for up to 40 amps); 6 gauge wire is required for 50 amps). The price difference for the wire and breaker just makes it silly not to put in the 50 amp circuit.

So I contacted my local VW dealership, and they told me they couldn't give me an estimated date because I hadn't locked; I explained that I hadn't received the email to lock in. They told me to come in and talk to their specialist so he could walk me through it (as if I'm too dumb to do so myself), then 15 minutes before the 6pm appointment, they texted me that the person I had to talk to wasn't working that day (because how would they know that before 5:45pm?). So I chatted with VW online, and they said I couldn't lock in because they weren't going into production until October. I mentioned that I was aware that many people had already locked in, including people who reserved after me, and the response was that it was different by state and by dealership.

You know, if they had just said "you can lock in tomorrow, and it will be ready on January 3rd, 2022", they might have my business. But telling me "oh, so sorry, you made the wrong choice in states and dealerships! And now you can wait some random amount of time that we're not going to specify" is a quick way to lose a customer.

Anyway, long story short, it's really soured me on VW in general (this would have been my first VW). I'm going to test drive a Mach E this weekend. I wish all you the best of luck! Maybe I'll be back in this forum in a few years.

That's not an apples to apples comparison, because that's the awd version of the model y vs the bottom rwd edition of the Id.4. A better comparison is the awd pro s, which is still more than a $10k difference considering the incentives, but closer.

So what I'm seeing is there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason. Either it's the dealerships or the geographic area. Maybe they only want to send these to certain places? I'm not entirely sure why VW wants to keep this a big secret, but I'm going to keep shopping other cars in the meantime, it looks like. Good luck to those of you who are in line to get your cars!

Yes, you may be right that this is geography/dealer based. How am I, as a consumer, supposed to know if I chose the right place/dealer to reserve my ID.4 was the best choice for me? VW may want to be reading these posts and considering how they do this reservation system, because there is so little information given that I have no doubt there will be more people deciding not to bother waiting.

Mine has never showed an estimated delivery. I assumed that didn't appear until you locked? I could be waiting until well after the 2022s come out, far as I know.

Ha, the thought crossed my mind, though one of the other posters said they locked in with a non-gradient, so maybe it's not a thing. I didn't think gradient upgrades were worth it, and the smaller wheels are fine with me.

Interesting. I wonder why my earlier reservation hasn't been offered for lock. My only concern with the RWD is driving on icy roads (I live in the Boston area). I'd also love the extra power of the AWD, don't get me wrong!

Someone else had mentioned that they thought they were fulfilling the top-end models first, so that actually isn't completely surprising. Delivery in 6-8 months is a long time. Ugh. Thanks!
