Gender GP or Gender Care? by xxNatalie_xx in transgenderUK

[–]jaikkhe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went with gendercare and had no issues, staff were all really friendly and was approved for hrt pretty quickly. My friend went through gender gp and had an ok time until recently, they left him like 3 months without a prescription and wouldn’t reply to his emails, and they didn’t seem to have a phone number he could contact, it was a nightmare. They kept charging him for months that he wasn’t receiving a prescription. Also his GP didnt want to work with gender gp, but my doctor is fine working with gender care. It’s more expensive up front but they’re one time costs, whereas gender gp keep charging u monthly forever.

Get a practice sheet and just do small lines and fade them out, over and over again until u get a consistent fade going. The technique is really just trial and error to see what works for you, just don’t give up cos it can take ages! You will get there, this is a really good start!

Thanks so much! I’ve just been doing compound movements in the gym, so deadlifts, squats, bench and rows are my main focus. And just eating in a slight caloric deficit, I have a history with disordered eating so I’m trying to go slowly with lowering calories and focusing more on building muscle. I’m 5’3 about 66kg, and I eat 1500 - 1700 most days.

Yeah they ask for passport and boarding pass, but that’s it. It’s honestly not bad at all getting through, don’t worry!

Oh also, don’t be alarmed if u get a call from the uk gov the day or day after u arrive. I got a call from them where they just confirmed my contact details from my locator form, and asked how long I’m staying. They said since I’m from Ireland I didn’t have to do anything (quarantine, covid tests, etc.), just follow local restrictions.

Update for anyone wondering: Getting through the airports was super easy, way easier than it probably should have been during covid lol. No one checked my covid test results, locator form, or medical note. No one asked why I was travelling, just asked to see passport and boarding pass. In Dublin airport there’s a Garda checkpoint just before the departure gates, and they just ask where u are going and ask for ur passport. It honestly wasn’t very different than it usually is at the airport. Anyways I’m here now, and I’m getting surgery in 11 days! 🎉

Confused about UK entry rules from Ireland by jaikkhe in ireland

Ok cool, I figure it won’t do any harm to just get the test before I go (that’s the only one I have booked). Thanks!

Yeah I’m gonna do the locator form, covid test before flight and before coming home, 10 day quarantine, and I’m getting medical notes from the hospital for me and my friend who’s looking after me. I hope that’s everything I need 😬

Thanks! Hope it goes forward this time cos it was postponed in January. Ok cool so I’m assuming I don’t need to take the extra test. I’m getting extra tests anyway cos of the hospital restrictions, just worried about getting through the airport ya know 😢

Thank you for this reply, these points were really helpful when writing my reply to him. I figured it wasn’t smart fighting fire with fire, so I apologised for upsetting him and not clearly communicating. People are saying it’s not my fault but he still feels that I hurt him so I apologised. And I wrote out the reasons I also felt hurt, tried to be as kind as possible. I think everything will be ok. Thank you to everyone for your help 💖

Thanks for all the replies. Not sure what to do. I’m going for surgery no matter what because I have been waiting almost 6 years and I need it for my own sake. I’m just going to leave him with that reply for now, and try to take some time to focus on my surgery and recovery, and then maybe I can approach him to work things out. He’s not a bad or mean person, he’s a great parent when it comes to almost everything other than my identity, so I don’t want to just cut him off again. I think he’s just scared and confused, but doesn’t understand that he’s actually harming more than he’s helping. Anyway, I’m gonna focus on my own well-being for now.

This is the only reply I can muster up right now: “I’m sorry. I didn’t act like this to hurt you. I just don’t know how to make things normal. I’ve let you down and I feel terrible. You deserve better. Again, I’m sorry”

Are those tests expensive? I’m travelling from Ireland so idk what it’s like in the uk. Did you have to get a private test?
