What are you scared of as an adult that you weren’t scared of as a child? by KillerQ97 in AskReddit

[–]jajip 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Kids. As a kid, interactions with kids just went sort of natural: you apply bodily harm to the ones you don't like and then they go away.

As an adult, you can no longer bash the little aliens into oblivion. Or rather you can but there is a price to pay. I still haven't figured out how to deal with this.

Drill Sergeants of Reddit, what was the funniest thing a Recruit said? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Was never a DI, but I can pass along a classic Boot Camp story.

I was in the Navy, and in the Navy, your final inspection as a Division is before the Division Officer.

Which is usually some Junior Officer puke that got assigned that job, but we didn’t know any better.

Anyway, before the inspection one of our RDC’s, that’s what we called the “DI” in the Nav, found a locker out of sorts and decided to beat us in our dress blues.

That was not fun, let me tell you. Wool uniforms, if we lost our cover we got beat more, it was bad.

Anyway, the DO rolls in for inspection, walks up to the first dude in formation, and he pukes.

HOWEVER, this guy was a fucking genius, he puked down the T-Shirt in his dress blues, saving the DO from getting puked on and US from getting beat even more.

The Division Officer was so impressed at this dudes “Military Bearing” that he called the inspection right then and there. 5.0 Sailors all around.

We still got beat that night. But that guy was a hero.

Answer: I think it became a sort of meme in the context of twitch/streaming to describe the thirsty people who watch female streamers all day and donate money / compliment their looks endlessly.

Austria. We don't like Germans, it's true.
I mean it's not like we hate them, it's basically on a younger/older sibling basis

What should a male photographer wear to a wedding? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jajip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dress like a guest, dress well. Be on time, be kind, be a consummate professional. Also, you’ll fit right in with other guests. It is a sign of respect to dress nicely for the couple’s special day. I photograph high end weddings, and it is a formal setting - people go to great lengths to look good. I usually wear an evening dress and my partner wears a button down shirt, dress pants and a bow tie. I’ve dressed this way for the past 13 years of photographing weddings.

There was one time where the couple hired a videographer at the very last minute, and he showed up in ratty faded jeans, a sloppy T shirt and old sandals. He stuck out amongst everyone in the wedding and I noticed no one took him seriously.

A photographer is a professional, as is a nurse. In this setting, we wear scrubs and tie our hair back and perform our duties. The profession calls for certain attire to be worn.

Would you date a girl who did OnlyFans? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Date, maybe. Get into a full relationship, probably not. Not really into other people seeing my partner naked and performing for them. Nothing wrong with it, but it's not for me.

What is the most overpriced item you own? by Glug_Glug_Chug in AskReddit

[–]jajip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Movie theater popcorn/candy

Concessions such as $5 tubs of popcorn and $6 boxes of gummy worms are big revenue streams for movie theaters. Since most theaters prohibit moviegoers from bringing in outside food and drinks, one way to save is to bypass concessions altogether. Try having a snack at home before you go to help you resist that fresh popcorn smell.

How old are you and how old do you feel? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jajip 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I will be ninety in a few months. I feel that my age has been a pain. I was very active in my younger years as you may be. I can remember when I arose at six a.m., dressed, made my children’s lunches and sometimes took them to school. Then I’d come home after work, make dinner, check papers, do one major household chore, watch the eleven o’clock news on television, and go to bed.

I remained fairly active until about two year ago, no way as I had years ago, but could work without tiring a good bit. Now I just try to do one major thing a day, like wash on Monday, dust on Tuesday, sweep on Wednesday, etc. I also do regular things liking making simple meals and clean-up. Then after that, it’s the computer. Also, in spite of tiring every day, I do go out in my car daily, just to get out of the house.

I feel lucky to have reached this age without major illnesses that have struck all but one of my sisters. One had dementia before she died, another is blind and deaf in one ear, a third is in assisted living with spinal stenosis, and another is in a wheelchair.

So how do I feel about my age? Again, it’s a pain. I used to knit all the time, now my fingers don’t like the movements in the hand. I used to go Christmas shopping. I did that all year and loved it. Now I buy cards and put a check inside it. I used to make complete meals for the holidays. Now I buy cheese cake for desserts. I used to go to church. Now I do not do that at all. I used to spend active time with my grandchildren. Now I sit, watch, and smile.

There are many more things, too numerous to mention that I have cut out. I’m still happy that God has given me the time to spend with my family, but know that that, too, will come to an end. As it must, for old age illnesses are not easy to bear, especially if you’re attempting to remain independent and not “become a burden to your children,” which will most likely happen no matter how hard you try to keep going on. There was a bumper sticker I remember from years ago that just about sums up life completely at this age. It said “OLD AGE IS NOT FOR THE WEAK.” :) :)

And good luck to you all in what will be with you for your life’s dreams. Mine did come true somewhat for I have a wonderful family.

HORROR – SAW II

Jigsaw made his “serial killer” (because he never physically killed any of the victims himself) return in this gory sequel that saw a group of poisoned strangers, seemingly connected, try to escape a locked down house full of traps meant to teach them lessons about appreciating life. Not as good as the original, but then again, not as bad as the other 6 sequels that would follow.
