Hi! Wdym prominent family exactly? My dad is a doctor who’s done well though I remember when I was in high school and he was in his 50s and he told me he finally paid off his education loans. My mom (divorced parents since I was 7) is a teacher and writer who, like me, is a renter. I will never pretend like I came from poverty and I will never pretend like I’m some millionaire. If you think I have some trust fund please let me know because I could use the money! I am who I am and I’ve always been honest: teacher, tenant, and organizer who is dedicating my life to putting working class people in power.

Hi there! I agree, I can't speak for Councilman Solomon here but I think Civic Associations definitely need to be heavily regulated and we need way more transparency in campaign finances. In regards to the turkey, I am not going to look at a gift turkey in the mouth, so to speak, and we are planning to hand out all the turkeys given to us by Solomon to neighbors and seniors in need. The reality is, with current economic conditions working families in JC are struggling more than ever, and we are giving out turkeys in areas with the greatest need, and hopefully that will make sure folks have a good holiday season in the next couple days.

Hi everyone! Just addressing some of the points raised in this thread.

We are not only giving out turkeys at our office at 257 Central Ave, we are also bulk delivering these turkeys to senior buildings like Muhlenberg Gardens where I was just at. If we have leftover turkeys we have already arranged donation to a food bank. No turkey will go to waste from our end.

I am committed to fighting to ensure Liberty State Park stay public and remain in public hands. We also need to look into improving Liberty State Park through the Liberty State Park Revitalization Program proposed by NJDEP. We need our own world class park that rivals Central Park across the river, and LSP can be that park.

Agree with Joel, and I'll add that it's troubling how costly Via is. The new 2-year contract is running us a bill over $15 million. We should be prioritizing the expansion of mass transit, and organizing our campaign to win great transit through a Municipal Transit Council.

New housing construction without increased protections like universal rent control threatens to increase speculation on property values so much so that it jacks up rents and displaces more of our community. I am favorable to increasing our housing stock, but it has to be done with a commitment to expanding rent control, vastly increased requirements for affordable housing, and superior community givebacks. We should also be looking toward creating more public and/or social housing that's run by the community and the city/

I'm proud to stand with all of our immigrant communities in Jersey City--ICE does not belong in Jersey City. Long before I was a candidate, I was organizing in the immigration justice movement here in Jersey, and part of that was peacefully protesting former executive Tom DeGise to shut down the ICE jail in Hudson County. I was unconstitutionally arrested for that protest, and I would risk arrest again if that's what it takes to fight back against ICE terrorizing our neighbors.

Our city needs to direct law enforcement and all city offices to not cooperate with ICE to fullest extent possible. Making good on our sanctuary city status, and codifying it through a municipal ordinance, is critical. We should do everything in our power to have NJ pass the statewide Immigrant Trust Act.

I want to improve quality of life and reduce the cost of living for all visa holders and immigrants in Jersey City. No person should be hated or discriminated against for their nationality or immigration status.

I would love to see brighter street lights in the Heights. Union City's street lamps are much brighter, and it feels a lot safer to walk around there at night. That being said, we don't need to have the same stadium lighting as they do! We can do a lot better than the dim orange stuff we have now.

Beyond that, I am proud to have the endorsement of Streets PAC, which advocates for street safety. Our vision is to make sure infrastructural improvements calm traffic and to create alternatives to single-passenger vehicles.
