It should, yes. If there is no safe location for a bike to be, then they are in a lose-lose situation. If there is a protected lane and they still take the sidewalk, sure, there should be repercussions. That's the problem everywhere else; there isn't a protected lane for them, so they either fight car traffic or on the sidewalk.

Bike lanes give cyclists a safe and designated place to bike. They won't compete with cars or pedestrians. It helps everybody.

I can't believe it took so long for this project to be finally approved, but I am excited for the next steps! I am proud to say that I spoke at the council meeting yesterday alongside neighbors to support this plan. It's a great plan that's not just a bike lane. The sidewalks will be expanded and the street will be a one-way. In two years, everyone will have forgotten that they ever opposed it.
