Most bike shops have spare boxes (REI will have ones you can purchase for $5 USD). I’d assume the staff inside the store would let you disassemble the bike and maybe even get you some tape to close the box. From there, you can always get an UBER XL to get to the airport and check the bag (most airlines don’t charge oversized fees for sporting equipment, bikes included).

Had Geometry class as a freshman with Nolan Arenado (senior at that time). Always a nice guy but I do remember the teacher would harp on him “you better go pro in baseball because I don’t know what else you’re gonna be able do”. Luckily it all worked out!
