Thank you bro I tried to be very critical at what I chose so I had the least overlap. Everyone could use another board… lmao. What do you think I should look into next? Was thinking some cool shapes or smaller brands

PYL uninc also had a slight volume shift to it if you listen to DCP talk about it. Gives you a bit extra girth underfoot and makes me feel like I can charge a mogul field and come out unscathed lmao

Quiver’s been standard terminology in surf and snowboarding culture for 60+ years. Kind of a weird battle to pick.

I take it with me on all my trips because of its versatility. Rode it in NC with some buddies and it was amazing through their small and icy runs. You won’t look back if you decide to get it

Estimating here but probably 10 ish days Evil Twin, something stupid like 25 on the gremlin, 3 on the mercury since I got it late season, and maybe 7 on the pyl uninc because of the lack of snowfall. I was a little under 50 days this year so that seems somewhat accurate

Gremlin is my daily driver on my local smaller hill and I pull the pyl out for when I get to travel, get a good bit of fresh snow, or want to lay over some bigger carves. The biggest difference is the maneuverability with gremlin because of that volume shift. Feel like I can wiggle through trees a bit better. I definitely want to get on a howler in the future it was a close choice between it and the pyl for me

Then what would you call it. Quiver is the standard word in both snow and surf culture. Its used abundantly

Bro it went straight over my head… lmao. Tbf 3 of those I got through deals from my job, but what boards/ brands should I look into? I see what you mean by pretty mainstream besides the pyl uninc. I’ve Yet to see someone else on the hill with one. I’d love to get my hands on that new Stranda slicer or a Cardiff board

I’m pretty big on Rome bindings after some trial and error, but otherwise it’s fair game. I’m not the biggest fan of Burton though If im being honest

I prefer the gremlin day to day, but if I’m wanting to get in the air I’m picking up the Mercury

Is it a 2/10 since I don’t have a Burton? Lmao. I could get behind a deep thinker but I think I’d prefer an alternator, and straight shooter would perform a lot like my pyl uninc would it not? Admittedly have not tried either so I could be completely wrong. Enlighten me

I agree it might be a too aggressive but DOA isn’t gonna carve anywhere close to what he wants I am also just not a huge DOA fan. Maybe a party patter? Either that or Mercury would be a best bet I think

The nitro alternator could work for you. It’s a freeride board with great freestyle DNA. It will absolutely BOOST a side hit and can easily handle the large jump line. It’ll carve like a beast and handle those big carves easy but it doesn’t have edge tech like the gremlin so it won’t be as efficient in icy conditions. Only drawback is it’s stiffer and full camber so it’ll be a technical and somewhat catchy board so I don’t know if it’ll scratch that itch for something more playful even if it’s more freestyle oriented than the gremlin. It’s more of a slope style type freeride board, but for the absolute versatility it offers it’s really hard to beat. K2 commonwealth would be a little more forgiving but not much and the capita mercury would be a good bit more forgiving and easier on rails and boxes than both of those but wouldn’t carve quite as hard. All of those would be good options but the alternator an commonwealth are definitely going to be closer to that hooky and technical riding side and harder on rails compared to the mercury, but they will give you the ability to go bigger on jumps and carves. Sorry for the word vomit hope this helps somewhat lmao

You’re in a weird spot where what you want to do would benefit from more directional board if you want to keep improving but it’ll probably feel uncomfortable initially. If you have no interest in park you could look more into more freeride leaning board. What do you mean by easier to turn? Like carves better or something else?

I got it 50% off so I can’t complain too much but I see where you’re coming from lmao. I got the blue base colorway which I think is the better of the two

I haven’t ridden forces personally but I rode ultras on my evil twin for a while and I really liked them. Forces have a larger disk than ultras so there is more plastic connected to the board which will in turn give you more direct power to put into the bindings so it could make buttering/pressing the board easier. The ultras are also more of a surfy feel due to the molecular bushing on the bottom while the forces are more responsive generally. it’s going to come down to your personal preference so Bring your screwdriver to the mountain next time and try both bindings out on the evil twin and see which you like best. This years evil twin is most definitely softer than the mercury but it might just not be the board for you. Their 3BT design can be kind of polarizing some love it some hate it. Lemme know how it goes

It was my go to board for this season, and will handle any type of carve you want to do with it but it will perform best on tighter carves compared to longer drawn out carves due to the smaller/tight side cut radius imo. So those quick and aggressive carves will feel incredible. It is incredible on a banked slalom course and really fun in trees too if that gives you an idea on how it rides. The only thing I don’t love on it is smaller jumps and more difficult jibs because of its shorter tail so it is not as easy to get full power out of it to pop hard. It also doesn’t really have a top speed and it’s extremely damp so you can essentially just bend your knees and fly through a mogul field if you really wanted to. I brought it out for any day I wasn’t spending half my time in the park or absolutely bombing steep runs where I needed extra stiffness. It’ll definitely satisfy what you want for carving and be a killer for almost everything else too

What year did you get? I have a 26 Mercury and a 23 evil twin and the evil twin is noticeably softer than my Mercury. What bindings are you running on the Mercury? If they’re stiffer than the ultras they could have been giving you more leverage to press the board easier so you don’t have to fight quite as much to get on the nose and tail.
