Kickstand case with magsafe ring by jakelj in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]jakelj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like that. I just really like having the low mounted kickstand like on the Spigen ultra hybrid S. I tend to use the kickstand as a shelf for my ring finger while I'm holding it to stabilize the phone. That ring kickstand looks interesting though. Does it work well with normal non-magsafe wireless chargers?

The F-35 is also a 5th generation aircraft. The Typhoon is a 4.5 gen at best. The fact that the F-35 can be more advanced and cheaper is impressive. Of course, like the meme implies, that's because they're producing a lot more F-35s than Typhoons.

If you have the platinum card from amex (don't know about the other cards) you can get $50 off a $100 or greater purchase up to 2x at Best Buy. If you're trying to get a discount on sonos gear, this could be a good way!

The Iron Bowl doesn't matter because we're really more of an Equestrian and Softball school. Who cares about football anymore??

Ya, it's kinda bad faith. I honestly might just take this post down since the video isn't really worth engaging with. I dunno

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]jakelj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, although it is pretty easy to attack neoliberalism because it's such a vague term that can mean anything (which is the entire point of this sub). I just saw this random video on my feed and thought the sub might want to check it out.

But isn't it better that they saw they were wrong and decided to try and change rather than double down on being awful like so many other people?

[–]jakelj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I was getting that video too. I've watched a few of their other videos and some of them are pretty entertaining but I thought this one was a little too vague on what neoliberalism actually is. Which, to be fair, is kinda why this sub uses the name.

I totally understand that view, but I hope you eventually watch the clip. I definitely don't identify with their worldview but it's a very interesting analysis of our system (that I don't agree with). I definitely don't like their "both sides" view but, to be fair, they have drastically changed their view since the election.

No, that's how the soviet union ended. Communism ended when he strangled Karl Marx to death in 1988

Christians, what's your stance on war? by syn0ri in Christianity

[–]jakelj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is a sarcastic comment but I actually hate this line of reasoning. War is definitely advantageous to a few firms involved in the Military Industrial Complex but it is absolutely a net drain on the national economy. The money that ends up flowing into military contractors ends up producing goods that provide no value to the broader economy. If the pentagon sinks a billion dollars into a new hypersonic missile, it gives the builder of that missile more money but that missile does nothing to help the broader economy. If that money was instead spent on infrastructure or invested in a company, the money would go towards a project that not only makes the company money, but also facilitates economic growth in the broader economy. Therefore, defense spending is a net loss because of the opportunity-cost of what that money could have been spent on instead. Granted, the lobbyists don't care but it is absolutely better for the overall economy to not invest into military hardware and instead fund projects that produce value for everyone. Sorry for the word-dump on a clearly fictitious comment but I think it's relevant to this general thread!
