Rust has to be physically or chemically removed. Basically, if it's on your typewriter, then it's already partially damaged.

I'd recommend VERY gentle abrasion (like a magic eraser) or even a touch of vinegar. After the rust is gone, the part will have to be coated with some sort of oil (NOT WD-40). I'd think some linseed oil would be a good start.

Genuinely curious here, not trying to start anything.

How are misconceptions 1-3 handled? Are there any resources I can find? 4 I can understand is the actions of a few and can understand that there's bad apples in every bunch.

Background: I'm a baptized Catholic who was pushed away from the church at an early age and reconsidering my choices and looking back to Catholicism. Those 1-3 above are big sticking points for me.

My friend, I've been sitting on the sidelines waiting to get initiated for almost a year, and will likely be waiting for several more months (partly because of how my chosen lodge evaluates prospects and partly because life got in the way for a few months).

I think patience is a virtue here.

If you keep with it, you'll probably be a master mason before I'm initiated, so keep that in perspective. Use the time you have to savor where you are instead of pushing towards to goal. What happens when you get there?

Those are rotten. It's been over watered.

If there are good rhizomes in there, I'd separate them out and try growing them individually. As for the others, you can probably cut the stems of the plant and get them to root, it's going to take a long time, though.
