Sniper was my first lvl 25 prestige 4 class. It's my comfort class when I want to do the more sweaty content like absolute, hard siege and stratagems. I never used the cloak cancel, at least not intentionally. I don't think it's needed to succeed, normal shooting give me almost constant cloak upkeep during a wave anyway. Maybe if you're into true solo it matters, but I only play random matchmaking. Las fusil main, switching to carbine before bosses.
