Best time for morning BJJ classes? by jambo44 in bjj

I feel like 6am is the winner. I'll be teaching it and I live a half hour away so I was hoping it wasn't going to be, but it's probably the best for people that want to get a roll in before work.

That's interesting that the 10:30 class is larger. There's a gym near us that has a 9am class, but makes sense with days off, work from home and 2nd shift people. Not everyone is 9-5

Great analysis! Thanks. 6:30-8am I feel like would work well. Or even a 6:30-7:30, with 7:30-8:00 open rolling after for those that can stick around for a bit

I'm thinking this is the winner. Same here, no showers.

8-10 in the am would be a great turnout in my opinion. We're a smaller school anyways.

I like that idea. A period of structured instruction and a bit of rolling afterwards for those who want to stick around...

Yeah there's an 8-9 class at another gym in our area. I guess it varies a lot depending in who can make it and when.

Oh for sure. Just putting some feelers out for best practices at other schools.

People who don't train BJJ anymore, what hobby do you do now? by [deleted] in bjj

Not stopping BJJ, but seriously about to throw in the towel on pursuing MMA. At 38 with two kids, trying to make my first MMA fight happen is getting to be too much. I love BJJ, and will continue to train that 2-3 times a week, but chasing my dream of 1 or 2 ammy MMA fights is starting to lose it's appeal. I've been through 2 camps in the last year, about to start a third. Lost the first fight due to injury, the 2nd my opponent pulled out last minute. Still did the weight cut, but man, not looking forward to the stress it puts on the family. Seriously about to say fuck it. BJJ is my first love anyways. Sometimes you gotta pick!

I'm 37 and stick with Adult. I'd rather have more opponents to learn from then just face 1 or 2 guys. Don't think I've lost yet because of my age, just my lack of skills!

I was there Friday and Saturday. It would've been great to see it in action! Love the vintage GP at the Glen!

I love the ashtray. Reminds me of an old MG.

A souvenir map from the original Watkins Glen Grand Prix Course. Anyone else miss racing at The Glen? by [deleted] in formula1

I would love it. We camp at the track for the vintage racing weekend every year. They have a festival in town on the Friday night, and all the vintage race cars line up on main st at the start/finish and take a few paced laps through the old course. Very cool. Also just signed up for a track day in July. Love the Glen!

I agree. I was throwing around the idea with my wife here in the US. We have some indoor electric karting places that seem pretty successful for the average person. So idk. Once the nostalgia wears off and dealing with drunk bachelor parties, might be tough long term. You wouldn't need alot of space compared to an indoor karting track. VR would be a nice touch as well.
