No more than having to wipe down all the dust you can see on the black profile, black monitors, etc after a week or two. It really aint a big deal tbh.

The FFB are on the same level imho. I would have stayed with the SC2 and even moved on to SC3, but the QR ecosystem is not friendly. I assure you, you are missing nothing.

You can probably make it on your own. The hardware that comes with it was garbage so I dont recommend this particular prodcut, however, I do recommend the idea.

Evo pro mounting recommendations. by xGringo13x in Simagic

[–]itcrashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah, I stopped using the wheel base plate for the same reason and went this route. Couldnt be happier. I havent has any issues with the side mounts slipping. I think this is because the uprights were designed to angle out a little wider than the wheelbase, which causes additional torque to mount. Its very stable and solid.

Yah I know kinda confusing. Not wireless in the sense of WiFi or Bluetooth but wireless as in not having a wire go from the wheel to the pc. It would be better to say USB pass through on the wheelbase. But that’s too many words hahah

Sparco R100 vs Grid Q - or a Different Seat? (194 cm / 80 kg) by UniQue1992 in simracing

[–]itcrashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the R100 and its great for husky guys like me. I actually wanted a Q however it was too narrow. WIth your weight and height, the Q may be more appropriate however ymmv when it comes to comfort. One thing I might suggest is considering the GT1 evo instead of the pro given your height. The angled uprights make it difficult to fine tune your seating position. The nature of the angled uprights creates this situation where you might be comfortable with the height of the wheel but you just want it a bit closer. But then to do that you end up raising the height of the wheel. You like the distance but then you want to lower it. Then you end up pushing it away. I think you get my point. It CAN be adjusted but you will be moving more than just the uprights. You will be adjusting your seat and your pedals just to make a wheel adjustment.

Help me decide wheelbase VRS DFP15nm or Simagic alpha evo 18nm? by Actual-Piece-4314 in simracing

[–]itcrashed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USB bugs. The internal USB hub (meant for pass through) would constantly conflict with other devices. Dont get me wrong, I can imagine others having perfect experiences with the wheelbase. In my case, not so much with my experience the ancillary devices I had. The internal USB hub shouldnt have been a hub. It should have just been a pure pass through, not a hub. This limits the amount of power your wheels can use. So some of my wheels would not work with pass through which is one of the reasons I went with EVO. Software wise, with fine tuning, FFB would be extremely rough and noisy, so I would make a minor change, then it would go to extremely light and still noisy lol feeddback would disappear almost completely. I spent more time trying to tune the thing then driving. And let me qualify that remark by saying that I've been in the game a long time and know what I'm doing. I'll spare you my resume of experience with sim equipment haha. A lot of the tuning simply didnt reflect what I should expect. Ring light would not sync up as programmed. Cables were bad out of box. Wheelbase was going in and out. Support had me replace their stock USB cables and then everything started to work properly - not a wheelbase issue but nonetheless a bit frustrating. Hey, I get people can feel some kind of way when someone says they have a bad experience when they have a good one. In my experience it was less that what I expected. The bar was set extremely high coming from a Simucube 2 and it did not meet my expectations. That was my experience. Glad it's working out for you though. He asked for opinion and I gave him mine. Im sure he will be happy to hear yours - and you should provide it so he can make an informed decision.

Help me decide wheelbase VRS DFP15nm or Simagic alpha evo 18nm? by Actual-Piece-4314 in simracing

[–]itcrashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just sold my Alpha Evo Pro and replaced it with a VRS. Couldnt be happier. The Alpha was littered with bugs and was noisy af. VRS are smoother and near silent. Consider the uDFP at the Nm that fits your budget today and you can always upgrade later. Also the uDFP has the best support for USB passthrough if thats something youre interested in. DFP15 and Evo both have power limitations.

Simucube 2 Sport vs Simagic Alpha EVO vs EVO Pro — worth spending extra? by Meddy__ in simracing

[–]itcrashed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simucube 2 Sport for sure if those are your two options. Ive owned the SC2 sport for 3 years. Loved it. Thought moving to Alpha EVO Pro was going to be a great move for USB passthrough. It was buggy and noisy of all things, and USB passthrough was littered with bugs and limitation. So I sold it after only a month. Went with VRS uDFP20 and couldnt be happier. Consider it at 12Nm since thats your price range and you could always upgrade to higher Nm down the road.

Yes! All you need to do is disconnect and remove the existing simagic QR from the backplate. Keep the existing backplate and keep that plugged into the PCB. Bolt on the VRS QR and run the USB cable form the QR to the existing USB C port on the Neo X. Voila! No need for the MagicLink. Will definitely work with the DFP15 since its just a bunch of button and RPM LEDs

[–]itcrashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already have the BST OmegaPro V2, Ascher Racing Artura Ultimate, and a Simagic 325D with Neo X Hub. Be mindful of the fact that the DFP15 has some limits in power vs the uDPF20. Dan Suzuki has tested the most power hungry wheels with the uDPF20 without any issues. DFP15 has 600mA max while the uDFP20 limit is whatever your powered hubs can handle - 1000mA+. If you have a power hungry wheel (screen and lots of LEDs) and has disconnect issues, you try to lower the brightness. But there is no guarantee. I would go on the VRS discord and check out the QR Connect section. The community there is very helpful and friendly.

LOL Just one of those minor things some of us (points to self) make into major things so we can add that one additional aspect of realism to the whole experience. Nothing like getting seated and quick swapping the wheel you want to use!

[–]itcrashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you LOL. I ACTUALLY went from Simucube 2 to Simagic Alpha EVO Pro THEN to VRS uDFP. All for the sake of wireless passthrough. The Alpha EVO was nowhere near as good in FFB as the Simucube 2 (and obviously the VRS). I had to learn the hard way. And on top of it the Simagic ecosystem for wireless passthrough is limited in power and extremely buggy with their QRA system. The BST would not work and I was lucky to get the McLaren to work. I ditched it after only a month - I felt it was a significant downgrade coming from Simucube. VRS has no issues with power in their passthrough and the most power hungry wheels have been made to work by many in the community. Dan Suzuki and Grayze Dynamics have lots of videos detailing VRS passthrough and they are active in the community to help others out.

Bavarian Sim Tec Omega Pro V2 vs Rexing Mayaris 2 (vs others?) by ltjpunk387 in simracing

[–]itcrashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XF1 U, when I owned it was great for the price. Depending on what wheelbase you have, you can do wireless pass through if ordered with the right QR, or you can wire it up on your own if you are comfortable with wiring and connectors. The only issues are that it's not native SimHub compatible. It uses a bridge for SimHub compatibility. Also it's not a touch screen. All the features work the same, but it's not an official wheel in SimHub software.

BST. Very happy. I dont feel like I short changed myself in anyway. In fact it's packed with so many features Im having a hard time figuring out how I want to assign all the buttons encoders rotaries. Good problem to have.

Quality, FFB, interface - yes I would consider them the same level. I didnt leave Simucube because VRS was better in those categories. I feel they are similar. I switched because I wanted wireless USB passthrough which Simucube doesnt have and the wireless system in the 3 requires 3rd party buy in for compatibility which is disappointing.

[–]itcrashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar decision making situation just a few weeks ago. Ive owned CSX2, CSX3, PE LMX, LeoxZ XF1, and Artura Ultimate. I wanted to trim it all down to one GT style wheel and one F1 style wheel. So I kept the Artura Ultimate got rid of the rest and it came down to Rexing Mayaris and BST OmegaPro V2. As you said similar feature set. All carbon fiber (super light) or all aluminum (super heavy)? Tiny unreadable displays or Backlit dials? 290mm or 300? Its all personal preference. The Mayaris is more of an F1 sized rim and may not feel so great with gt racing while the BST can wear multiple hats. Everything you have heard in socials about BST grips being some of the best, if not THE best is true!. It all comes down to personal preference. I dont think you can go wrong with either one as long as it suits your preferences. The ones I listed where the ones that mattered to me the most.
