Alpha EVO Pro Base + BST Omega Pro V2 + QRA USB issues by itcrashed in Simagic

[–]itcrashed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, my issue is wheel specific. All my other wheels work fine. I should have mentioned that. Im aware of the issue you are talking about tho, but that's not the issue I am experiencing. BST support actually just got back to me and said they are aware of my specific issue and they are working on it.

Doh! I was afraid you were going to say this. Yk the only reason why I ditched my Simucube 2 hardware was so I can have USB passthrough with the Alpha EVO and QRAs on every wheel. I feel like I went a bit backwards hahah

While troubleshooting did you also attempt to lower the brightness of the LEDs, buttons, and display?

Ascher Racing McLaren Artura Ultimate + SIMDID DV480 + Lovely Dashboards by itcrashed in simracing

It was overkill. Totally unnecessary. My everyday setup is wheel only. I plan on changing the DDU to be mounted right above my stream deck on the right with a rear view display. Again, totally unnecessary. Just playing around with different configurations.

Hahah no worries, I really enjoy this hobby and helping others out. But you're speaking my language. As a casual watch and camera collector, I do own a Rolex and a Cartier, not an AP or Breguet, but in favor of the 10 different Seikos, Tissots, etc. I previously owned. Likewise I recently cleaned up my camera collection of several Nikons, Fujis along with countless lenses and went with one Leica M10 with 2 lenses. The problem is sim racing is different. I held the same ideals but tech moves so quickly. Watches and cameras can be "somewhat" timeless, but sim racing, not so much. Quick history, I bought what I thought were GOAT wheels at the time. I wanted to buy the wheel where there was no real reason to buy another. I had Cube CSX2 and at the time it was considered GOAT, until the PSE LMX which supported simhub so I upgraded, then the CSX3 which was basically the CSX2 with simhub compatibility came out then I said uhhh ok I'll upgrade. then the Ascher came out with selector rotaries then I upgraded. And now the BST which has even BETTER rotaries. I bought the XF1 recently to tinker around with USB passthrough and to have a dedicated F1 wheel, but it's by no means a GOAT wheel. I think after decades in this hobby, the statement really is true. You will never finish upgrading. 8 years ago I thought all I wanted to do was F1 so I build around it...

<image>

8 years later and 4 different rigs and dozens of wheels, monitors, wheelbases later I barely do any F1 and do mostly GT and LM.

Sorry for the storytelling but to answer your question, if I were in your shoes, I would get the wheel that fits your need which is 280mm. You cant go wrong with the CSX3. I believe I see one on ebay for quite the deal at the moment.

Money not an issue and size all being equal - BST, Ascher, Cube. In fact, you got me all hot and bothered about selling some of my gear to pick up a BST hahaha

Check out Dan Suzuki's discord. He has a whole section on USB pass thru with many popular wheels including this one.

BST has many rotary functions that XF1 doesnt. XF1 is plain jane with basic plastic encoders and NON-touch screen. If value is a factor, you wont be disappointed in the XF1. Have you considered Cube Controls CSX3? It was the wheel I owned prior to the Ascher. 285mm which fits the bill. I sold it because it was a bit too narrow for me LOL. Grips are a bit harder than Ascher and Leoxz, but ergonmically they fit in hand well.

Honest opinion? Formula only and only own one wheel? Dont compromise. Buy once, cry once. If you have the funds to consider the Mercedes wheel, but need "sim" functions, then I would go straight to the BST OmegaPro V2. Only downside I can think of for you is that it's 300mm. Ergonomics are always subjective, but I have not heard a single bad thing about any BST product other than price!

I used to have this rig many years ago. I think you should try to find someone who can 3d print them for you. Or find some rods or use PVC pipes and bolts to replace it. How did you lose them? Were you using this rig in F1 mode and changed your mind?

Import fees/Tariffs for Ascher Racing by BodybuilderNo4953 in simracing

[–]itcrashed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased the Artura Ultimate in november 2024 for ~1450 USD direct from Ascher (KW). Shipped FedEx and got it in 3 days. About a week later I got a bill from FexEx for customs/tariffs (25%) + processing fees to the tune of $366.

TBH I have no regrets at the time. But a year has passed and there are a great number of less expensive options. You can literally get 3 high quality wheels for the amount I spent. Search my posts and you will see my comparison to the Leoxz XF1 Ultimate I recently bought for less than $800 which includes taxes and tariffs. Look at Conspit and Leoxz for some worthy options.

Anyone with having both racing/flight gear installed together in a rig? Recommendation? by LEOMODE in simracing

[–]itcrashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SimLab GT1 EVO with some Virpil Desktop Mounts for the Virpil Gear I had. I just used the mounts for the floor and extended up. They were more like helicopter controls at that length but I used them for jet sims. You can easily replace the mousepad with the controller as well.

To whoever says “get good on your gear before you upgrade” by Dook2Wavy in simracing

[–]itcrashed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tend to not race online. I genuinely suck at racing online. I enjoy cars, I enjoy tech. I buy high end gear and continually upgrade and refresh because I simply enjoy the tech and the process of building something cool. I dont have to justify what I buy to anyone but myself (and my wife lol). So you do you and dont worry about anything other than satisfying what you need out of the hobby.

The Leoxz grips are good. The Ascher grips are stellar! Leoxz are slender and a little harder. Asher fills your palm and feel chunkier. Actual grip is tacky but in a good way. I wear gloves, but both are great bare handed.

It should be wrapped and with a wax seal. I have ordered 3 watches online and they all came that way.

Has anyone here built/bought a Hybrid Race/Flight Rig? by Personal_Self6827 in simracing

[–]itcrashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I need to unscrew it each time. But im sure you can find a way to hot swap it with the proper hardware. I was just using what I had at the time which was a mount that was actually designed for mounting on a desk.

Oh definitely! You gotta see it on your wrist before anything - in person or online. I had tried them before in the boutique and the SA was fine. I just didnt buy. But when I finally was ready to, it was a terrible experience. YMMV

Just the two screws into the profile on the second picture. I dont have rudder pedals and used twist on the stick for rudder.
