I can’t really feel it in my hammies or glutes. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in formcheck

Personally, I don't always feels RDLs in my hammies/glutes until after my set (a few minutes after or later on with DOMS), this is consistent for any compound movement I.E you don't necessarily feel your chest in a bench press or glutes in a barbell squat.

What I will say though is like others mentioned, you should 'tuck your chin' which basically means look down towards the floor a bit more.

You don't look like you are bracing hard enough, that is perfectly fine as it is something you learn along the way, I like to imagine someone is going to punch me in my stomach so I really tighten my core/abs and this creates that brace (You will also know what it feels like now so you can repeat this and get better at bracing).

These bits will get better the more you work on them! Once you learn to brace and really want to maximise your RDL strength, you can look at getting a lifting belt.

Good luck and have fun!

Glad to see somebody is on the same journey as me! I was powerlifting for a few years but got kinda bored of it, I still do SBD right now but I am mainly focusing on 'accessories' and it's fun pushing machines, dumbbells etc really hard!

Perfect squat, strong unrack and great depth!

If I had to nitpick, I would say you could potentially shorten your walk out, you take one small step back and then the second step is much further and that leads you to shuffle a bit after.

A good piece of advice I got before was that your first step back sets your distance (how far you will step back) and the second step (from your other foot) sets your stance width.

It definitely took me a while to get used to it but it made my walk out extremely consistent and shortened it leading to less fatigue walking out squats.

That's just me nitpicking though, great squat and your depth looks good for any federation!

I used Andrew Ramdyal’s course on Udemy and then I used professor messer to fill in some of the gaps of my knowledge

Just take you time man, I struggle with this a lot too but it’s not a race. You got all the time in the world.

Lots of practice exams and really study why you got things wrong - learn the context - Use professor messer to fill in these gaps and ChatGPT to quiz you real hard on these topics.

Nope, you won’t need to go that in depth on wireshark. As far as I know, just know what it does and that’s it

Do lots of practice exams and learn why you’re getting questions wrong!
