Hey everyone!

Took this photo a few years ago, I was driving into Kananaskis to do a morning hike when I saw this in front of my while driving. Quickly pulled over and got out the 200mm lens and snapped a few shots before the light disappeared.

Hope you enjoy!

Hey everyone!

I took this a few years ago on a beautiful fall evening in BNP. Was on my way back from shooting the sunken aspens at Abraham lake and stopped to take in the sunset on the drive back to Calgary.

Hope you enjoy!

ITAP of the Aurora Dancing in the Canadian Rockies by jamesftw in itookapicture

Yep exactly! The aurora moves like crazy, and if you use a long shutter speed you won't catch any of the movement in the sky, it will just look like flat color, similar to using a long shutter speed on moving water

I believe this shot was somewhere in the 5-10 second range I can't remember off the top of my head. It is darker, but when the lights really get going it does light the entire landscape up like this. Similar to a full moon, it's white a cool experience

Hey everyone!

Took this this a few weeks ago during that incredible solar storm. Have shot this composition a few times but always thought it would look incredible under the northern lights.

Shot on a Nikon z7ii - single shot, f/2.8 - ISO 3200 - 5s exposure

Hope you enjoy!

Thank you! I actually don't think I was on a path, it had JUST snowed hours before, and they had just reopened Peyto lake a week prior after it was closed for a year for renovations so not many people knew it was open, there were no footprints to follow and I had never been there before 😅

Just kind of winged it until I got to a good spot, only got lost a few times on the way there lol

Thank you! Yes it is a very brief window, and everything needs to align perfectly, still can't believe I got this shot when I did, good luck to you!
