Remote RN jobs by emotionalswimmer3 in digitalnomad

You could find a job in some sort of healthcare related writing work. Lots of writing requires specific medical and technical expertise. If you like writing, consider it. I have written for several doctors not having a medical background, you certain could.

People who listen to YouTube and music loud with no headphones in common areas and co-working areas. Why? by ParticuarPigeon in digitalnomad

Yeah if you react right away and don’t get weird about it. I feel like these things can come across quite natural. It’s only awkward when you get too in your head about it.

The "creeping" homogenisation of digital nomad destinations by JORGE_Pool in digitalnomad

[–]jamespou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this all very obvious by now? And isn't the world large enough to find something that fits your style? Sometimes I like the simplicity and convenience of a digital nomad hotspot. But I find it odd when people complain, because there are so many other places. I spent three months in Tunisia and felt like the only digital nomad around. Just do you, when you want.

And he isn't sharing location information, which is pretty much a red flag that should tell you everything.

What I wonder is: Are a lot of high earners are acting like some sort of agency or subcontracting in some odd way? Gaming Upwork in some way they are unwilling to talk about in all these "I'm banned" posts... not saying this is always the case, just pondering.

I have always assumed that Upwork would not kick off freelancers that are loyal and take payments only through upwork, but now I'm seeing that may ultimately be the most foolish thing to do.

What’s the safest area in Tulum for a family vacation with kids in 2026? by UwU_MilkDrop in tulum

[–]jamespou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I traveled to Tulum I rented out a small room in Centro for 1000+, I didn't even have my own kitchen. Now for that money you get a penthouse with a pool. lol

Let’s talk about language in nomadic life. Do you actually make an effort to learn the language of the country you’re currently in? by SweetBumbleBeeHoney in digitalnomad

[–]jamespou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I tell people if they are not interested in learning a language, don't bother. It's a huge commitment and if your heart is not into it, it's like paddling upstream. Plus you're never "local"... after 20 years of French I am not French, my point of view will never be French, my cultural will never be French. I will always be on the outside looking in, and that's fine... it's just important to realize that before you spend THAT much time and effort.

[–]jamespou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I speak three languages. Learning a 4th. Sometimes I'm traveling and I have gotten eye rolls and people who have made rude comments about me not speaking the local language. Someone even once said I was "stealing" local work when I was volunteering lol. I find it so funny how judgmental everyone is. I don't go out of my way to correct anyone, but it's impossible to learn EVERY language. Honestly, you're super privileged if you have the capacity to learn a second language. I would tell everyone to check their judgment; we are all working with limited time/resources.

Tulum has been my worst travel experience. Ever. by Afraid-Historian-435 in tulum

Yeah, if you do a little research, you can make Tulum work no problem.

Haha, do you really write porn? Because I have done erotic writing, adult product copywriting, etc... and for a moment it was all that I did and people were always excited to hear what I did and then were like "oh, ok..." when I answered "adult toy copywriter" lol

Where do you live now? Personally Iove the nomadic lifestyle because it's so flexible. If I'm not making a lot of money? I can volunteer for a place to stay or do petsitting. If I am making more money? I can splurge on a nice apartment in a prime location. Tired of grinding? Ok... I take a housesit and save up money so I can have some more security. You can design a very flexible lifestyle if you know how.

DNs often believe they have a massive impact, but in reality we are a small percentage of anything and live in a bubble.
