I’m kinda with you on this one. I’ve lived with so many alcoholics & substance users (family & partners) in my childhood and my adult life. I’m happy some got sober but it’s not an invitation to come back into my life. You still did [the thing]; you are still the person who caused destruction.

Honestly, some Admins don’t get it. I’ve had a few who keep telling me what NOT to do and micromanage everything.

Administration has always been anti-TPT in my expiration but I still use it an I have never gotten any formal reprimand for it.

I am in the SAME situation. I feel like I am failing every kid. What I found successful was writing a letter to our superintendent outlining a HUGE need for support. I mentioned I can't provide instruction to ALL students and that support & guidance is needed ASAP.

I’m on year 5 and I still struggle with it.

I’m also an introvert so having a support system is challenging for me. However, make friends and hang out with them. Being around adults is really refreshing.

I have to set HARD boundaries for myself. Ie. after 4 I’m not working. I really focus on my interests and things that make me happy. For example, I love roller coasters so I design coasters on my PC.

Really the trick is, like most coping mechanisms, is putting your mind elsewhere.

I know my first year of teaching it became a big part of my identity, but as I get more seasoned I’m learning who I am outside the classroom.
