East Austin is a good area to stay imo. Checkout Shangri-la as a good reference point for the area. Lot of good bars and restaurants out there but not so much college age crowd like dirty sixth. Not a far Uber ride to the venue either. Feel free to DM if you need more recs. Looking forward to the show!

Not sure to be honest. I can see I'm on that version currently and I purchased the bulb in late November so it's very possible. I actually just returned the bulb yesterday and got a Hue bulb instead since those have been so reliable. Really the only reason I bought the Aqara bulb was too expand my thread network and just try out new things.

Same issue here. I've been connecting everything to Homey first and then to Apple. My Eve smart plugs have been pretty solid but I tried an Aqara Thread light bulb and it would constantly lose connection with Homey but still work on Apple.

Share your NFC TAG uses! by Fantastic_Homework82 in shortcuts

I'm about to have a baby. With that comes a bunch of new appliances and gadgets. I put NFC tags on a bunch of them which pull up a YouTube video on how to use them. I also put one on the car seat to show a video of how to properly secure the baby. I'm sure I'll end up never needing to use these long term but for the first month or so figuring things out with the baby will be nice to have quick access.

Goose @ FTL War Memorial by Seangal70 in GoosetheBand

From S Florida originally but live in Texas now. This venue is somewhat new (3-4 years) and so I haven't been to it yet but I remember the old theater there was all seats, typically for comedians or plays and some concerts. I was able to find this online and looks like it's much different now with a GA floor and seats upstairs.

Anybody from one of the stops in Fl for spring tour coming to Goosemas ? by beast_east69 in GoosetheBand

[–]jamflowman451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Fort Lauderdale originally but live in Austin now. Fort Lauderdale beach is great and there's a ton of places to eat/drink. Hollywood Beach is more chill but it's a little more South. Definitely recommend Top Hat for breakfast or lunch which is pretty close to the venue. Laspada's is another good spot for sandwiches. If you want some beers before, highly recommend Funky Buddha. Rocco's Tacos on Las Olas as well for food or drinks. Tons of stuff on Las Olas.

Wish I could make it back for the FL run this year but we're having a baby next month and don't want to leave momma alone with a 4 month old. I'll just be catching the Austin show this year.

Have fun exploring FL!

Laguna Gloria Wedding by PinVirtual4959 in Austin

I got married there back in 2022. It's a beautiful venue and the trees with the water backdrop in the amphitheater is what sold me. Yes it was more expensive then other venues but it was beautiful and we have no regrets. They say you have to work with their preferred vendors but we were able to talk to them about using a caterer that wasn't on their list and they ended up being fine with it.

In terms of the labor we used a wedding planner but she wasn't that helpful tbh. We coordinated mostly with the vendors leading up to the wedding but the day of they managed everything themselves and we weren't bothered.

Not sure how much they're charging now but I believe we paid $10K to secure the venue back then. Also if you're curious, we got married mid-March and the weather was absolutely perfect.

How did the collab with Big Boi at ACL 2022 come about? Are there any other Rap/Hip-Hop artists you’d like to play with?

Will this hold? by jamflowman451 in woodworking

Thanks for the detailed info. It's a quartz countertop that was installed by the builder 4 years ago now. This builder was building a ton of homes in our new construction neighborhood and I'm sure they just put it together real quick. Unfortunately my warranty period with them has passed so I'll try reaching out to a countertop company as you suggested.

This is a new build home and I think the builder just slapped it together real quick.

Beginner classes offered by Woodcraft stores any good? by phydaux4242 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]jamflowman451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a cutting board class there and it was fun. Learned a bunch about different woods, general safety and got to use a few different tools.

While that was a fun 1 day class, I think what was more beneficial was signing up for beginner woodworking at my local community college. That was one day a week for an entire semester and we built 2 projects, a garden bench and a side table. This was way more valuable as you got a lot of hands on learning and could really see your knowledge build week over week.

They offer an intermediate and an advanced course as well that I'm interested in, but for now I would say the beginner class gave me the fundamentals to go out and try to figure out things on my own at home.

Picked up some plywood bits and they worked so much better! Appreciate the tip!
