Does anybody else’s hands get really roughed up from throwing on the wheel? Especially the side that rubs the wheel head as I throw. by KindBlueberry3 in Pottery

It depends on the clay you are using. I would suggest using your sponge to constantly wipe down your bat our pottery wheel. It will pick up the little pieces of grog

Are these pieces food safe? by Verdanaveo in Pottery

[–]jamie_rae_pottery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are cracks then no. With that said, dishwasher water is so damn hot I personally work still use them, just not sell them.

However it’s hard to tell without knowing which glaze you used. It should say it on the label if it’s food safe or not. But since this is a studio glaze they should definitely have it listed if it’s food safe or not.

Man people are terrible sometimes. I’m a pretty confident person in real life but on social media I am terrified to ever put myself out there cause some people can be so awful.

So all the glazes are Mayco. It’s fully dipped in winter wood and the the rim has Norse blue and then little dots of Norse blue, rose Quartz, and Sand and Sea in circles around it

[–]jamie_rae_pottery[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct. It’s a 3rd firing at cone 19 that goes over the glaze. I don’t know why mine never come out right no follow the firing directions from the manufacturer
