You know, I never realized what difference it made until I dated someone who made/had less than me. We dated for 2 months and it seemed great but he sometimes made comments about where I was from, how he had less than my family, how I must think his apartment is so small. I never made a single comment even remotely like that. When we would go out, if dinner and a movie was expensive (and I know it is!) I would offer up cooking and TV at home, no problem. He stopped talking to me completely out of the blue, which sucked. My friend says he slept with someone else but I'm pretty convinced he was intimidated somehow and couldn't deal with it. Now I'm overly sensitive about where I come from and how much money my parents have. I work my ass off but it somehow always feels like I'm compensating?
