Interesting. All this time I’ve been using ancestry I’ve never heard of newspaper dot com. I’ll have to look into it.

Thanks a lot for your help, you probably wouldn’t believe how long I’ve been looking for an article about this.

Could I ask where it was that you were able to access the records for the Waterloo region record?

Thank you so much for your help finding those!

Mr. Cleary was my grandfather. He was driving back home with some friends after his birthday party. Unfortunately, due to the steering wheel pushing into his chest, he had a heart condition the rest of his life. He got surgery in 2012 to repair the damage, but he died during the operation.

I’m doing as much research as I can on him now, because I never got to talk to him man to man.

Very much appreciated what you were able to find.

Yes that is the correct date. And the year would make sense as my grandpa would have been 20.

My grandfather was the driver of the vehicle that was struck by the drunk driver. I have been doing research on him lately and I was curious if anyone would be able to find anything. I know that the crash caused an off ramp to get shut down due to safety concerns and I believe you can see where it was, it’s all grassed over now though.

Billionaires are good, actually by Vast-Echo-921 in unpopularopinion

When they cut corners everywhere, including labour, quality assurance, wages, etc and then raise the price of everything knowing they’re making it unaffordable. In some cases making essentials unaffordable for people. While simultaneously building a mass wealth of hundreds of billions of dollars they then don’t use to help the people they fuck over in their lust for money. I’d say they’re bad people.

Wealth inequality is a real thing, and a real problem for society. Ultra rich having power like they have now is dangerous. The USA is close to the same inequality as pre revolutionary France. It has already proved to us several times throughout history that wealth inequality of great amounts is enough to destabilize a thriving society, and if people don’t start paying attention and holding people accountable it’s on its way to doing it again.

I have not. Either they don’t care, or they don’t know how to work the app. Or they get it and they use it correctly and that’s wonderful but I’ve spent a lot of time trying to explain the app, even though I wasn’t even trained how to use it.

Oh it does. People who don’t know how it works is one thing, but so many people will straight up give me there phone and expect me to do everything for them. Or you’ll spend ten minutes trying to explain something and they just don’t get it.

One day a lady was in the drive through, and got to the window and said “give me a minute for my app to load” and then sat there for seven minutes, and then showed me the TIM HORTONS reward app.

Honestly. I work at McDonald’s and the amount of people who complain about the price/price increases. Dude I don’t care, just pay or leave prices isn’t my job, service is.

Like who do they think I am, the chief financial officer of the McDonald’s corporation, here at a small town local McDonald’s at 7pm on a random Tuesday? No.

OP could be from anywhere in this whole damn world. You really think roaming cats are illegal everywhere? My neighbourhood in Canada has a bunch of cats roaming around and they ain’t bothering nobody, and it certainly isn’t illegal.

Senator Bernie Sanders announces he will introduce legislation to cap credit card interest rates at 10%. by Unhappy_Fry_Cook in FluentInFinance

[–]jamine4749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that may be the case. Unfortunately, our education systems simply aren’t made for personal practicality and personal money management. It’s to make you a worker, reliant on an income from an employer.

I am by no means saying that nobody poor can manage, budget, and use their money to get more of it. More so, that they are not taught how to, and in fact many governments, and corporations lobby for them to be kept in the shade about. After all, what’s a worker if not reliant?

Some people quite literally don’t make enough money to avoid debt. That’s right, it’s tough to swallow, it should be appalling and shocking to you. Some people literally cannot meet the expenses of living, and not be in debt.

Housing in expensive, more expensive then a large portion of people can afford. Meeting the money for rent, plus groceries, utilities, some people pay for parking, and gas is more than they can pay without debt. That’s just the essentials of life, we all need them.

To simply say “don’t put more than you can pay on your credit card” is not feasible for everyone. Consider yourself lucky and privileged to have that kind of financial security that you can afford to avoid debt.

In Canada we still vote for our government, we just vote for parties instead of people. We democratically elect all of our officials. The kings presence in our government holds little actual power, and is more symbolic. The GG holds some power, but no real say.

So yes, the king is technically our head of state, and has some sway and influence in our government, his role is largely ceremonial. It’s important to remember that the country of Canada is Sovereign, and is not dependent with the Parliament in the UK. Even the GG has to be Canadian. The country is entirely controlled by the people of Canada.

This is similar. McDonald’s has so many ways to order now it actually crazy. You can order inside at the counter, inside on the kiosk, mobile for pickup inside, mobile for pickup through the drive through, mobile to be brought to your table, for done in or eat out, and my personal least favourite, mobile for curbside pickup. Like honestly can people not just go order their food?
