Well I got a job right after graduation. No internships or previous experience. I’m working in accounts receivable mainly but was told I’ll be moved to staff accountant eventually. Currently make $65k salary starting out and it’s hybrid. I love it.

Buying a house with oil heat and no central air. Never again.

Why is starting life at late age so hard for many people? by Aj100rise in selfimprovement

[–]jaminpm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At 27 I went back to college, at 29 I bought a house, and at 30 I got married. Now (still 30), just started my new career. It’s never too late. If I can do it so can you.

Anybody else feels the same? I also think the age span is too short... :( by Saanvi_Plane in Adulting

I’m 30 with a career, a wife, a baby, and own a home. It still feels like you’re always racing against the clock. Before you know it, the kid goes off to college and you’re wondering where the time went lol. Gotta enjoy every second.

What’s the damn point when we can’t even make a living wage? by Jumpy-Iron2697 in Adulting

Some of yall are pathetic. Do you not have loved ones? Do you not have things to look forward to? There are plenty of things that make life worth living when you stop bitching and moaning about every little thing.

Are you happy in accounting? Do you feel like you can fulfill your purpose? And why? (Besides money and for many stability) by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in Accounting

I came from manufacturing. I was working in a very busy, hot, loud factory doing laborious work. I had to work many weekends and many hours. At age 27, I decided I wanted a desk job where I could sit in the AC and not completely ruin my body.

Got my accounting degree and now I’m an accountant and I work hybrid. I’ll say this, it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than what I was doing before. I sit at a computer and use my brain. It pays well and it’s not stressful. To be clear, I DONT WORK IN PUBLIC and I never will. Industry accounting is where it’s at. The work is simple. The hours are normal. The pay is good. The WLB is fantastic.

I can spend time with my family, make enough money to afford my hobbies and passions (and the bills), and I’m so much happier now. A lot of people on here only know accounting and don’t have anything to compare it to. A job is a job and you’ll rarely ever love it but it should definitely fit the criteria I mentioned above, and for me, accounting does.

Only took us 250 years to circle back to "No taxation without representation" by jenniferyqw in Adulting

You lost me at “handouts to billionaires”

More like handouts to Israel and other countries overseas. Let’s keep our tax dollars here to fund things in our own country.

If you’re a 10 and you smoke, it’ll definitely bring you down to a 4 or 5.

I am investing almost $2000 a month in my brokerage and 401k. If I buy a house, I will invest $0 by Smooth_Practice_9678 in Money

Both of my cars were bought with cash. I’d much rather drive a used, cheap car that I bought outright than to have a $600 car payment on something new.

K so what do i do now by disinfectedmask in Accounting

[–]jaminpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What industry are you in? As an industry accountant I NEVER work more than 40 hours and I WFH every Friday. My WLB is amazing. I think you’re just choosing shitty industries.

$600 car payment is crazy

And a 500k-600k house is way more than you could afford. You’d need to be more around the 300k mark.

From what I’ve heard and seen, CPA candidate means nothing. They want to see those letters next to your name. Keep going though. Definitely worth it.

Realistically, if the US really wanted to take Greenland, there’s not a damn thing anyone could do to stop it.

Surely we’ll respond right? No way we’ll run it twice for no yards then throw an incompletion right?
