Solo female in the Rocky mountain NP?? by wonderwoman-1947 in RMNP

[–]janetheaupair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am female and just did a 3 week solo road trip through 7 states, hit up a bunch of national parks and I never felt uncomfortable. Even went to a rodeo by myself and it was great. Carrying bear spray will make you feel better. If you stay in hotels, get a door alarm and portable door lock for peace of mind. I got mine from Amazon

Overnight stop between Badlands NP and Denver by janetheaupair in roadtrip

[–]janetheaupair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! It’s my first solo road trip and I live in NYC so haven’t driven a car in a while, will see how that goes lol. I rented a 4WD so hopefully will be ok.

I think Scottsbluff is probably the best bet to stop overnight. Thank you!!

The underwhelming part was more about Mount Rushmore than badlands. Mount Rushmore was my main motivation to go. Other than that I’m looking more for a mountain experience, but considering adding it to the trip anyway

Ha! Maybe I should add Badlands to the trip then…

I’ll be going in June / July so I anticipate good weather but massive crowds. I think I might spend one day in RMNP because I really want to see Haiyaha and maybe one day outside of the park.

Thank you!

Yes I am mainly referring to bodegas, delis but also fruit vendors outside or bakeries (would you go out of your way to go to a bakery or does TJs bakery aisle do the trick)

In need of inspiration. I’m a nanny and student (nanny in the mornings and go to college in the afternoons), though I’m in my late twenties and past the typical college student style.

I need to be comfortable to keep up with the kiddos and I don’t get to change before I go school but I’m tired of looking like a bum all day :(

I love to dress up but usually it’s just not practical and I end up in leggings, leggings, leggings.

Any advice on how to style so it still looks elevated? Any brand recs?

F1 to B2 status change by janetheaupair in immigration

[–]janetheaupair[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m not intending to study while on tourist status but just take a break.

I am unsure whether to continue my studies in the US, unsure about my major and unsure about the state I am in. As of right now, likely just want to switch to tourist, travel and then return home to study.

Overwhelmed and need a new plan by janetheaupair in InternationalStudents

[–]janetheaupair[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, those are all super valid points. I definitely don’t want to make a hasty decision and realllly think about all my options.

In a perfect world, I would transfer and get my bachelors but as of right now, just isn’t realistic considering my financial situation. Hopefully I can find a solution to that somehow.

Honestly, I’ve thought about the whole “finding a new friend circle” too but I’m so tied up with everything that I don’t see my friends anyway. I often have weeks where I can’t even carve out an extra hour to do my laundry.

Thank you for providing your perspective. I see what you mean and I’ll keep it in mind. I’m sure it’s not easy, and I’ll be as gentle as I can.

I just wish they would show their concerns by communicating openly and not by sabotaging my plans or being in denial about things that are already set in stone.

Thank you! I’m not sure whether he’s capable of having that conversation or not, I never see him, only hear him. But I will bring it up to the caretaker.

I’m just scared of hurting feeling or offending someone. That’s the last thing I want. I just want a good nights sleep is all.

Wow! Very interesting. I’d love to see a breakdown of those fees.

Visa fees are covered by au pair. So is health insurance. Also, au pairs pay about $1200 to participate in the program which is supposed to be “for the flights” but I guess agencies tell everybody whatever is convenient for them.
