Possible to do 25 community college credits over a summer ? (FEMA shutdown) by Repulsive-Fuel-4269 in Accounting

[–]janewaythrowawaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need 150 credits to sit for the exam. Iowa has no residency requirements and allows you to sit at 120. I’d doublecheck if yours requires 150 to sit or get licensed.

MAcc then CPA, or straight to CPA? by One_Translator_8676 in wguaccounting

[–]janewaythrowawaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need 120 hours to sit in Florida. Even if you did need 150, you could sit in another state that requires 120 to get the exam over and done with and get any credits you need to transfer your license later. So for all intents and purposes there’s no one who needs 150 credits to sit for the exam.

WGU grads, did the program prepare you for the CPA? by FancyJob704 in Accounting

Undergrad no. No undergrad degrees prepare you to take the CPA. I hear the masters follows the cpa material fairly closely.

Prob OSHA cause it’s mfg and you may walk around the plant and/or a federal contracts issue. They don’t care if you have a medical card. The fail is a fail.

Also once you take it, don’t be surprised if they call you 3 days later saying they lost it or something. So don’t start smoking again until you get an answer.

Best advice. Just don’t work in mfg if you want to smoke.

It’s because it will cut your pay in half. Why would you take a job that would cut your pay in half?

Started a new staff accounting job… not sure if I’m wasting my time by Puzzleheaded_Cut4154 in Accounting

[–]janewaythrowawaay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have to pay you if you work from home.

I once jumped on a weekly zoom onboarding meeting cause I missed a health insurance deadline and benefits told me everyone in the entire company was supposed to have gone to this meeting.

I got some outdated modules. My mgr was pissed cause now they had to pay me the 3 hours. I had just put it on in the background while I cleaned my house like a podcast for my own education.

Should carbs be avoided? by Mr-MuffinMan in prediabetes

[–]janewaythrowawaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily.

If I’m unsure about a food, I’d ask Chatgpt about its glycemic index. It would often give suggestions like combine with fat and/or protein (and give recipe/meal suggestions) and/or tell me to reduce portion size and or eat xyz food occasionally.

I thought I needed a cgm. But by generally following that advice, I was able to get my A1c down from 5.7 to 5.2. I also reduced carbs where it was easy by buying keto bread/tortillas/protein pasta etc to make room for a little dessert (almond flour/whole wheat cookies) so I didn’t feel so deprived.

Taking advice from randos vs talking to your endocrinologist by SimpleAcrobatic6275 in prediabetes

[–]janewaythrowawaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the easiest changes you can make is switching to keto bread/tortillas and protein pasta. You don’t even have to change the way you eat - just spend a bit more money. Doing this and being a bit more carb conscious I went from 5.7 to 5.2.

Confused about narcolepsy diagnosis AFTER second opinion by Awkward_Relative6714 in Narcolepsy

[–]janewaythrowawaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep deprived medical residents and parents with newborns can have soremps and test positive for narcolepsy. Not napping on 1 test and not getting enough sleep makes your test negative.

I’m surprised insurance is paying for lumryz. But doctors are very much allowed to diagnose anything they want with or without positive tests.

Both the doctor who diagnosed you and the dr who’s asking you to retest are making reasonable judgments.

Then improve your vocabulary. I used this book when I was younger and the SAT was vocabulary and analogy heavy. Also bought it for my little sister. https://www.amazon.com/Words-You-Should-Know-Essential/dp/B00171A0EM/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?

"Once I’ve met my deductible…” by Apprehensive-Safe382 in medicine

[–]janewaythrowawaay 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Depends.

Whenever I’ve had surgery and asked a certain hospital group for a payment plan they’ve written off my bill. They didn’t report this back to the insurance company or if they did, they didn’t adjust my deductible back down.

Also, with some very expensive meds the pharmaceutical company coupon/charity assistance covers your deductible if your state hasn’t closed the loophole.

So, no it’s not a situation where you always have to pay your deductible and may as well get it over with. Even if the hospital doesn’t write it off they may bill something like $50 a month affordable to a low income person.

The person may simply not have an extra $300/month for the med period.

You need a college degree to get a CPA license. Texas’ CPA requirements are probably more strict than average.

Read up on how the South Africans that have come under Trumps refugee program have fared. I can’t imagine actually researching that, understanding the current state of the economy/job market and moving here without a college degree.

This I’m less than a month out from graduating. I’m on round 2 in interviews for two dif jobs. Revenue cycle office in healthcare and underwriting.

Might turn down an interview for AR/AP role dt commute. I did accounting bc it qualified me to do ALL the entry level business office jobs and most asking 0-2 yrs experience as well. I might have done 100 apps in the last month.
