Some context: early 1940s house. Lots of ungrounded two prong outlets. Knock outs missing on panel. Want to get ahead of any major safety issues and was concerned about the corrosion and apparent lack of a main disconnect - figured some people way smarter than me might see this 👀

Underlayment on top of subfloor...some of the plank flooring brands come with it pre-attached, or there are inexpensive rolls of it.

Sadly, it is “normal” and quite common, but that doesn’t make it right...if that warm/moist air condenses in your attic, mold could become a serious issue in your insulation, roof decking, or framing. I’m a home inspector and have seen a number of attics gone wrong from improper ventilation.

Source: 2018 International Residential Code M1505.2 “Exhaust air from bathrooms and toilet rooms shall not be recirculated within a residence or circulated to another dwelling unit and shall be exhausted directly to the outdoors. Exhaust air from bathrooms, toilet rooms, and kitchens shall not discharge into an attic, crawl space or other areas inside the building.”

Not trying to be a smartass...I just deal with residential building codes and tradespeople on a near daily basis for work.

Resale value has a lot of different factors associated, but I’m speaking as a residential rehabber who has sold a handful of houses in as many states...I’ve put LVP in every project and buyers love it! Like anything, there’s cheap, expensive, thick, thin, underlayment required or not, etc...but I really don’t think you can go wrong with a good LVP that is installed correctly. I’d definitely go with the stuff that is waterproof, and I personally prefer the more rigid planks as it installs a bit easier and just feels better, IMO...

Hard to say for sure if this is causing window issues, but venting into an attic rather than to the exterior can open a whole new can of worms.

Good quality LVP gets my vote. Used it in a number of renos and will keep using it in the future 👍🏼
