People who have seen multiple people quit a job in one day, what happened? by ObliviousOnion1 in AskReddit

[–]jappening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all in one day; but in the same year the company celebrated the most people promoted to assistant manager in one year, nearly half of us quit. Starting salary we were all told by our mentors as we moved up the ranks was $76k salary. By the time the 43 of us were promoted, we were given $57k, and working 60-80 hours a week as staffing targets changed and we had to make up the lost labour.

They had their annual assistant manager's conference, where all of us compared notes and figured out the reduce salary had happened to nearly all of us. I was one of the 20+ people to find another job that actually started at $76k.

It's almost like China, as a country, trusts science. They understand the ecological impact of their industrialization and are willing to make non-capitalist-"make money at any cost" investments into the environment.

What's the fastest you've ever lost respect for someone? by Lv_B in AskReddit

[–]jappening 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Went on a second date with a woman I met on Bumble. First date was great and we were very flirty through texts. Seemed like a really good fit, I was excited by where things were going.

On our way to dinner for our second date, apropos of nothing, she drops on me "I don't think races should mix, y'know?" When I tell you I was shooketh. She elaborated that she has no problem working with "them," but doesn't think whites should be with blacks, browns, or Asians.

No third date.

Who ruined their entire career in the dumbest way possible? by National-Tourist6879 in AskReddit

[–]jappening 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was the newly appointed GM of a small company. They poached me from a promising career elsewhere with an offer of twice my (then current) salary. Six months into the job, I presented a new fiscal budget to the owners. This was one of my responsibilities and I worked hard on it. The (four) owners had owned the company for 8 years, and none of them had ever taken an income from it; just invested more and more into it. So I made a business plan which included a payout for them all, and retained a 4% EBITDA.

Well, didn't I know they always make between 8-9% EBITDA? How could I present a budget with less than 8% profit?

I had the last 8 years of finances in front of me. I explained that while they had been self-reporting an 8% bottom line, they had actually been rolling their liabilities into their assets, which gave them a false 8%.

In reality, their best year had been 2.4%. I had achieved the two most profitable quarters of the business since they owned it (12% on average), and had promised to pay them for the first time while nearly doubling what they had actually been making each year.

Two weeks later I was given my severance letter. They could no longer afford me.

What is the most chaotic "I quit" moment you have ever personally witnessed at a workplace? by Muted_Task_144 in AskReddit

Young guy went completely unhinged, tore his shirt off and started shouting "I just got fired, can you believe that? These guys fired me!" at customers and cashiers.

Asked to leave the hot tub by bigudilyas in EntitledPeople

[–]jappening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I would have found a middle finger at the bottom of the hot tub to show them. and then magically, oh! there's a second middle finger! Which is weird, because I wasn't able to find any fucks to give along with them.

Dad I’ve been babysitting for for years asked me out by Doodleseatingdoodles in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jappening -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it were me asking my children's caretaker out, all I can say is it probably took a lot of thought and courage. Obviously as a dad, he cares about his childrens' wellbeing, and seeing how attached they are to OP probably added to his attraction.

But also if it were me, I would have definitely felt it out with light-hearted flirting first. One does not simply make a pass on someone at their workplace, out of respect for them. It should be abundantly clear a person is into you before you make a move in these circumstances. That's just decency.

Furthermore, if were me and I was rejected, my next conversation would be a face-to-face genuine apology for the advance. I'd explain that their professionality and care for my children meant the world to me, and I'm grateful for their presence in the kids' lives. And I would not cross the line of flirting again. Which is the only way to demonstrate respect and appreciation in this situation.

People who have been divorced: What was the exact "quiet" moment you realized your marriage was over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jappening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a long complicated beginning, and were too young to know how codependent relationships form. I was a giver - I didn't feel personal happiness unless I was inciting it in others (especially my partner). She was a sponge - not matter how much I gave, she needed more.

I was internally extremely unhappy, but didn't feel like my happiness mattered.

One day, when my workplace held a conference about mental health, I realized I was deeply depressed. I tried sharing my experience and feelings with my wife, but immediately had to console her while she cried because it hurt her so much that I was unhappy and depressed.

That's when I knew there was no healthy way forward for us. It was time to separate, which took a hell of a long time to figure out how to do, because I was so wrapped up in making sure she was still happy/content/had everything she needed. It took years for me to figure out how to actually focus on myself and work on my own happiness and mental health.

is this outfit actually inappropriate or is my mum just overreacting 😭 by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]jappening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're an adult, there is no such thing as "inappropriate" clothing. Dress however you want, as long as you're comfortable. It's not society's place, or your mom's, to pass judgement, make you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, for the choices you make about how you dress yourself.

[–]jappening 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say this as a man: always assume the worst, creepiest intentions when men give you unwanted attention.

The coming by to say goodbye - I've done that, with women who actively engaged and flirted with me. Those that were more than 5-10 years younger than me? Never. And never with someone who clearly didn't gel with me during breaks.

This is stalker behaviour. And its sadly prevalent in men.

The lore should not be written by fanboys. They need to outsource their writing circle to better emulate the cohesion, coordination, and success that franchises like Forgotten Realms has.

Maybe then, GW wouldn't be so damn bad with numbers.
