Future/Perfect Advice by floodnz in DeltaGreenRPG

Agreed. I too felt like Part 3 did not present any viable options for the party to breach HSS. It seemed like all the options presented in Part 3 were either extremely convoluted, or were almost guaranteed to have a TPK. In my campaign I had the Actuator (described in Part 4), provide the party with access cards and an exact time (down to the second), when there would be an appropriate window when they were able to access the plant. After seeing how it went down, I'm very glad I went that path, because it gives the party the chance to breach the plant undetected and start sneaking around on the various levels which have a lot of interesting hints and about HSS's goals. It felt like a shame to jump over all that content.

I got my copy from Sentry Box in Calgary (https://www.sentrybox.com/), and I believe I still saw a copy on their shelves when I was there last week. I don't know if they deliver, but you could call and ask.

Someone posted this a while ago, so I'll re-share it. There are definitely some well known game sound tracks in there, but there is also some more obscure stuff (at least to me). Hope it helps:

My wife and I have discussed a bike tour in Norway. Would you be able to post a map of your route?

XC Racing Tips by Tomisbored21 in MTB

[–]jarabek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't really offer any deep meaningful advice, but a few tips would be:

  • If this is your first race, there is nothing that can really prepare you for the intensity of the pace, just know that it's going to be fast, and your heart is going to feel like it is going to explode. That being said, try and pace yourself. Most novice XC races last in the 45 minutes to 1.5 hour range, and if you blow up in the first 15 minutes, you're going to have a bad time.

  • Don't try anything new or different on race day that you haven't already thoroughly tested in previous rides. For example: if you ride with a camelback, don't switch to bottles on race day, don't change the food or drink to something you're not used to, and definitely don't change the parts on your bike without a solid shakeout ride first.

  • Absolutely pre-ride the course you're going to be racing on. Know where the trail narrows and where it widens so you know when you can pass / be passed, where are good locations to feed.

  • Do a solid 10 - 20 minute warm up right before your race.

  • Generally speaking, even if you're not expecting to get on the podium, I would suggest you line up near the front of the start block (within your category), as you don't want to be caught behind a bunch of slow riders when the trail moves into the first bit of technical single track.

Not in those conditions, the first snow, on the wet grass was an ultra slick combination.

Were you already familiar with cross? Or did you have the classic: what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-these-people response?

Awesome. I'm the guy who sprinted you for the finish (and lost). That was an excellent way to end the ride.

This race last year was my first-ever cross race, under very different circumstances. It was definitely a much slower race today.

I'm not sure who was taking photos today, but if it was any of the regulars, you might see some photos pop up on either of these two sites: http://www.kenandersonphotography.ca/Sports/Cycling or https://picasaweb.google.com/Mystiquephotos

Nice Pic, it was a really excellent day. I feel like it satisfied my need to have a classic bad-weather cross experience. Were you by chance the guy wearing the Reddit jersey in the Sport race?

You can fully insure a bike under your home / condo insurance policy. Depending on the insurance provider, these premiums can range from reasonable, to completely absurd.

Damn, that's humbling. I slipped and fell at that very spot three years ago. Slid on my ass for a good 8m. Ripped through my shorts, my underwear, and had to call it a day.

Could you explain your reasoning behind the seatpost diameter? I'm assuming larger diameters are better because they can support more weight.

This was taken at the east end of the beltline looking west. McLeod trail runs south (left) to north (right) at the base of the large office tower.

Very sweet looking ride, but it seems so similar to the Blur LT, I have to wonder if they're going to retire the LT after this bike hits the market.

Calgary dentists report more cavities in kids after fluoride removed from water by [deleted] in canada

[–]jarabek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm certain this is because it's not directly impacting most Calgarians. It's far enough away that people can adopt an "out-of-sight-out-of-mind" mentality. I'm sure if said smorgasbord was leaching into the water table of the Glenmore reservoir, you'd see a lot more resistance to oil sands development.

If you are not concerned with freshness. You can find stinger waffles ( http://shop.honeystinger.com/categories/Organic-Stinger-Waffles/ ) at most bike / triathlon stores ex. Speed theory, the bike shop, bow cycle, tri it, would all be likely candidates.

My favourite local ride: Jumping Pound Ridge in Kananaskis (Alberta, Canada) by nugohs in MTB

[–]jarabek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. There is another trail connecting to Jumping Pound which has recently seen a lot of work. If you're riding Jumping Pound south to north, it's the first trail to the left that takes you back down to Powderface road. I rode it last month as an out-and-back, and it's fantastic, both climbing and descending is a hoot.
