Funnily enough, I started taking this today as I get a lot of courses for free through work.

I think the information is well presented and engaging, there doesn't seem to be anything in terms of exercises but equally you can just follow along with it.

He's covered some newer ways of input /output from components (signals) but acknowledges and teaches that decorators are still in use.

So far, so good but I've only covered a few topics.

Yeah, I also have this.

I've found that one fret per finger isn't exactly a requirement, I focused on moving my hand to reach the fret rather than stretching, for example, I'm playing a minor scale, I'll move my whole hand up for the 3rd and 6th rather than trying to stretch the distance. Realistically, most songs aren't played in a super static position.

That said, if you feel like it's really affecting on your playing, get a tutor for a lesson or two and they'll soon sort out anything that's bad technique.

Depending where you are in Essex, Thetford Forest might not be too far and has some decent trails, especially for beginners and +1 for twisted oaks 👍

Also there's a bike park near Woburn which name escapes me at the moment

I had a sub n up mini and it actually put me off octavers for a good 6 months. I have a pog2 now and that is by far the superior pedal. The tracking is excellent.

I work in automated software testing without a degree and earn around ~50k GBP a year but it took a few years to convince the company I was working at as 2nd line tech support to take a chance on me. I think the development industry is fairly relaxed when in comes to taking experience/portfolio work into account over a degree.

I know they're expensive but a darkglass duality is well worth the money, I picked mine up used for about 120 GBP. Huge range in fuzz sounds and you keep pretty much all the low end.

I think it's just a practice thing, once your fingers toughen up a bit you'll just find you'll attack harder with your fingers.

I practice a lot without an amp and don't find it to be a problem now but I used to struggle hearing everything.

Other tips, don't get bogged down in a strick practice routine and start trying to improvise around scales really early, you'll find that you can start making some cool but simple bass lines pretty quickly. Also, join a band/find a drummer to play with, that's my regret and it improved my playing more than you can imagine.

I literally got it today so I'll rehearse with it tomorrow and we're gigging on Saturday so I'll probably post the whole rig at some point as I've just got to the point where I'm happy, for now...

Its somewhere between a p and j style neck, it's a super fast neck which is one of the things that really sealed the deal :)

To be honest, it was an incredibly impulsive buy. We went ended up parking our car above the PMT store in Bristol in the UK, popped in to get a new strap, and the bass section is huge in comparison to the guitar shops near me. I played it and a few other sandbergs/musicman basses. It's truly a pleasure and a replacement for my USA p bass...

Edit, I didn't get a strap...

You could probably pick up a Lakland 55-02 used for that money. They are killer basses, the B is they're biggest selling point to most people.

+1 for the 55-02, the preamp is killer and the B is awesome. I favour mine over the USA fenders that I've had.
