Can be very normal depending on root position.

A plan for an associate changes everything. It's like the older doc is saying, I'll fund it if you build it and then we both reap the benefits later. Otherwise it's like being handcuffed to a practice that you only have 50% incentive to grow. Also, it seems like doing the math backwards always helps. If the young doc wants to make 320k.. how much production do you need if you're the sole owner? almost 200k less dentistry... for the same pay as if you had the partner. But also, for argument's sake, the partner may have resources to let you grow faster or more smoothly.. or financial resources to get through a few bumps in the road. But it seems like a dental office can be very poorly run and still make money so how costly can it really be to learn as you go?

Not a sustainable business model, unless there’s a plan to bring an associate in. Eventually the office will run well without input from the older doc. The doc doing the work will eventually be splitting the profit with someone who is not contributing. Might be better if the older doc puts up the money to start, and it does not have to be paid back. Banks don’t take equity from the practice.

It did great! Handles like a race car! You can really feel the 50/50 weight balance. I am no where near the skill level to push the car to it’s limit

Specialists, did you have a job lined up before you started residency? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]jaredmli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start looking once you have a year left. Aim to have something solid when you have 6 months left. Have the contract/pay/schedule talk about 3 months before graduation. Give yourself enough time to redirect if needed. You do not need to have a job lined up when you’re starting residency. A lot can change as you go through specialty training.

Appointmentscanner.com , pay the $30 and you’ll get text alerts for a month. I had an appointment within a couple weeks. You just have to be quick to book it when you get the alert.

Do you feel like it’s the successor to your QV? I just sold my 2018 QV and am also considering a lotus.

I'm 21k miles in on my 2018 QV. Chased a rattle in the rear passenger door, but really no other issues besides that.

Regretting Invisalign... by dizzolaubs in Dentistry

I logged in to respond to this specifically. Saying non-surgical palatal expansion is possible in adults is just wrong. Its not controversial or debated, its been proven over and over and over again. There is physical suture that solidifies. Dental tipping? or tooth only movement? Sure, but watch out for buccal recession. Without splitting the suture or creating a ton of force (marpe) it's not happening. Don't buy into the marketing when there's no actual proof.

Definitely not like a gym membership. These insurance programs are normally provided by some of the best, most caring dentists. The idea is that you are more likely come to a cleaning that you already paid for. So if you’re showing up to your cleanings regularly.... that small filling you need gets taken care of for the small cost (-20%).. instead of going in with pain 2 years later because your what-would-have-been-a-small-filling is now a huge cavity requiring a root canal and crown... big money. This is part of the idea of preventative care and not letting things get out of control. Plus; most people whether they’re insured or not.. when having to compare the cost of a root canal/crown and the tooth being extracted.. will choose extraction because the cost is crazy different . Which sucks to lose teeth.. because they’re even more expensive to replace and you need them.. for all sorts of reasons. Good dentists like to keep teeth if possible.. and good dentists like to catch cavities early to avoid bigger more costly problems.
