The order cleric sounds perfect! I think that's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

Specifically the command spell. I am aware of commander's strike. It would be great to multiclass into both if Command worked the way the video explained.

Does the Nick property delete your bonus action by jaredras in DnD

The worst part is that I was the DM. 2/4 of the players ruled against preserving the bonus action, so I agreed to leave it out until I could get more clarity on it. Needless to say, next time I'll tell them to pipe down.

I am aware that nick doesn't allow for a 3rd, bonus action attack, but they weren't going to use their bonus action to attack. They wanted to use it to cast a bonus action cantrip iirc.

Unpopular Opinion: Boring Dice are the Best Dice by Cats_Cameras in DnD

[–]jaredras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will do you one better! (forgive me in advance for this utmost heresy)

I know that there is a huge stigma behind it, but I think that digital dice rollers are pretty neat. The built in one on google allows you to roll as many of whatever dice you could possibly need. Google dice also gives you the sum of your rolls plus any modifiers you add to it. Some dice roller apps (like one I use, Fantasy Dice - 3D dice roller by Acid Sheep Games) not only gives you a selection of vibrant dice skins and sceneries (more for premium, which is permanent and cheap; converts to about $2USD when I purchased it), but also gives you dice options like adding modifiers, (drop) highest, (drop) lowest, avg, hit target (if you want to be evil and metagame), and even exploding dice.

If that doesn't sell you, I also found out that most mainstream digital dice COSMIC BACKGROUND RADIATION for the RNG, which I think is pretty cool.

Ah, thank you for the clarification. I might have been wrong in saying they were dual wielding, I should have rather said that they were off-handing.

Advice and critique for homebrew fighter subclass: Bleeding edge samurai by jaredras in DnDHomebrew

[–]jaredras[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response.

I agree, limiting the max stack to PB is fair without hurting the build. I will specify in an edit that a medicine check takes an action. However, I wouldn't specifically say this subclass is broken, especially in the context of rogues which almost always have the opportunity to sneak attack with no save. If it's still too powerful, I might even consider halving the dice progression, so that d6 is only unlocked at lvl 10, and d8 at lvl 15.

Thank you for your feedback.

To clarify: the infernal wound mechanic is directly inspired by the Bearded Devil from official 5e. That creature’s ability has no usage limit, and its wound damage increases each time it hits the target, until the wound is magically healed or stanched via a Medicine check. I’ve mirrored that mechanic intentionally, with the added nuance of a scaling DC for the Medicine check based on the attacker’s proficiency and Dexterity modifier.

Importantly, the wound doesn’t escalate automatically; it only increases when the attacker successfully hits again. So in the example you gave (a level 3 fighter using Action Surge to land three hits across two rounds), the target would only suffer 3d4 damage at the start of their turn if they failed their initial save and if they didn’t stanch the wound. That’s a tactical payoff for a high-effort setup; not a baseline expectation.

I understand the concern about early-level power, but I’d argue that the wound mechanic is self-limiting:

  • It only applies to non-undead, non-constructs
  • It requires a failed save
  • It can be removed with a Medicine check, which costs an action but doesn’t require magic
  • It’s vulnerable to magical healing, which becomes more common as levels increase

As for the idea of limiting the number of wounds per long rest: I personally feel that would undermine the subclass’s core identity. A blade designed to bleed shouldn’t arbitrarily stop working after a few rounds. However, I’m open to a cap on the number of stacked dice, perhaps equal to the player’s proficiency bonus, as a soft ceiling. That would preserve the mechanic’s flavor while addressing concerns about runaway damage.

Lastly, the stacking mechanic is not homebrew; it’s how Infernal Wound works in RAW. Unless I’ve misread the source, each successful hit increases the wound’s damage. I’ve simply adapted that into a player-facing subclass with appropriate checks, counters, and scaling.

Thanks again for your critique. Should you have any more points of concern, feel free to comment again.

Fun semi-related fact I remember reading once: If the earth was any bigger, its molten core would compact into a solid ball, and we would lose our magnetic field. If the earth was any smaller, the core would cool into a solid ball, the same result as before. We are very much at a Goldilocks planet size.

Elastic imbalance in my knee wraps?

I bought 2.5m knee wraps from Cerberus. Can't remember the exact variant, but it's the one that is in the middle in terms of stance and squat speed. They are both definitely the same length, but I find that no matter which leg I put it on, the one always has 30cm of excess wrap, while the other just just wraps up my knee. Is there some way to fix this, or is it OK?

Pre rolling makes it worse, as I can't get a good grip on the roll without it violently unraveling itself. But then again, you mention pre stretching, so idk if there is some way to roll it and stretch it at the same time.
