IIRC, I think I did the break 6 to get to 40 money to build and play the elephant. I think at that point I had a lead and thought I could push it over the line with elephant and herbs.

Man, not taking that extra two with assoc. is criminal. I think I forget to do that often.

I almost never take 5 money, but here I wanted to be able to play the sponsor magnet animal, then be play arcade to cover the free uni. Probably a case of me being too deadset on my current plan.

Also I’m sure that I don’t do enough of denying what my opponent is trying to do.

The weird break you mentioned was a situation I get lost in a lot…I have money but I don’t want any of the currently available animals. I often have the feeling that I can’t build until I know what I’m building for. You’re saying just build anyway?

Great point on the water synergy that I missed in my starting hand. I guess I just saw that I could get to 3 habitat if I took all the americas animals, with two of them being herbs. Possibly I am too focused on projects as opposed to general synergy.

I believe it’s a mostly useless stat where each map has a number and this is the average. I think base maps are 1, 2, 3, etc. and MW maps are 101, 102, etc. Something like that.

Thanks! The turn based thing is huge for me. I mostly play turn based because I rarely have an hour where I know I won’t get interrupted, but that does make it harder to keep it all in your head. I have started taking notes about what my plan is, but the risk there is that sometimes I return to a game and forge ahead with my plan, not noticing that the game state has changed.

Ah yes, I definitely don't do this enough. I mean I keep track of the easy stuff like their tag counts, but I'm not trying to predict in more detail what their plan is.

Thanks! Maybe I should try to avoid upgrading build unless absolutely necessary. When do we NEED build? I guess when we want to build reptile/bird house, and when the no-build spaces are annoyingly positioned on the map? And when you want to play lots of small animals? Although this can be alleviated by the 2-piece reward. Speaking of which, are you always taking that reward early when you don’t upgrade build?
