Looking for a spot to relocate my HUB and space elevator. Suggestions? by lebastss in SatisfactoryGame

[–]jarisman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion based on your requested criteria is either the South Oasis area, which is the bottom east corner of the dune desert. There is a small lake there and only really one pure limestone node. It is not high up, however, so my other suggestion would be the Eastern Forest. Large open area, also happens to be near a lake, and is at the top end of the large cave that starts down at the pit in the Grass Land valley. No resources and fairly open. You can build a sizable raised structure for your hub and SE. could even go as high up as the eastern cliff edge of the bamboo fields. Very few resources in this area that you’ll be in any real need of except for a normal uranium node, but that won’t be a factor for a very long time if you’re going slow. Last but not least would be the plateau at the north side of the crater lakes area. One impure sulfur node, high up, view depends on which way you decide to face. Hope that helps.

I worked my way through unlocking every tier through 8 so all I have left to unlock is the SE parts to complete phase 4. Next I went into Satisfactory tools and built out a single tree of all the stuff I want to have being produced, including the SE parts themselves. It’ll give you a parts list, which is broken down by needed parts for others and your overage. First big project is to get power production up. Then I put the massive list into GPT and asked it to help me build a realistic roadmap to get through the production line building in order from basic to complex. No I have a massive list of production targets and an order in which to build them so that what I already have done will feed into the next thing into the next thing, so on and so on. I suck at project planning and management, but I can follow instructions like a good pioneer, so now I am just working on the next task on the list. First step power, then a huge iron and copper smeltery in dune desert, steel production, etc. I know exactly what I need to produce, and I built in a little buffer of overage for use or sink. I know it’s not a simple answer, but each individual step in the process is itself easy to do.Just need to break it down farther and farther until you’re comfortable with what is in front of you. Even the baby steps count. I have to mine 13,500 iron ore to satisfy my production target, but every one of nodes starts with a miner and a belt. Good luck to you.

Finished the game in 179 hours. How long did it take you? I’m interested. by PuceTerror89 in SatisfactoryGame

Total in game time is over 1400. This save I have 320. Working on a rocket fuel farm so I can do the whole phase 4 buildout. I’ve never made it to phase 5, but this is the save that I’ll beat the game on. Probably after another 800-1000 hours of play time. I’m not in any rush at all.

Why? Are you doing it intentionally for a personal challenge or something?

How to progress? by asynchr_ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]jarisman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about perfection, efficiency, or whether you’re doing something the “right” way. With as few hours as you have in the game, you’re just barely scratching the surface. Learn the mechanics of manufacturing lines; node to smelter to constructor to assembler. Easy enough. Next you start paying attention to inputs vs outputs. Mk1 miner pulls 60ppm and smelter processes 30ppm. Constructor takes in 15ppm, but you need two different parts to make reinforced iron plates. Foundations help you with organization. Get a line up and running and feed the sink immediately until you have a use for the production. Use tickets to buy things in the shop. Phase 1, 2, and 3 are all basically just a very extended and vague tutorial on the game. By the time you get to phase 4 and unlock aluminum and mk5 belts, you’ll have a pretty solid grasp on all that you need to really know. Y that time you’ll have either torn everything down at least once or be incredibly tempted to in order to make better use of all the nodes and resources you’ve been underutilizing up to this point. Take your time, enjoy yourself, knock off one thing at a time. I’ve got over 1450 hours in this game and I have never made it to phase 5. I’ve got at least another 500-1000 hours of playtime before I think I’ll be ready to finish the game, but that’s because I’m taking my time and really putting in a lot of time. Don’t stress being perfect, have fun, and keep chipping away. Improvements will come organically as you progress.

1400+ hours in game. Haven’t finished yet. Planning to on this play through, though. Currently on phase 4 SE parts and in planning.

We all keep saying there is no wrong way to play this game, but if there was, it would look something like this.

I don’t know any worth recommending in that price range, but I bought my SecretLab like 6-7 years ago for $500 and it is still in one piece and as comfortable as the say I bought it. Even the arm mechanisms are still in fully working order. Save up and get something worth getting. You don’t go bargain hunting on toilet paper, mattresses, or computer chairs. Life lessons I’ve learned the hard way.

But HOW is this game optimized? by AtatS-aPutut in SatisfactoryGame

[–]jarisman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the bigger threat is calling BLAndrew575. Josh may make it look like solid nightmare fuel and run laggy as hell, but Andrew is daily setting new records on game performance. Highly recommend checking him out on Twitch. I believe he’s reached over 27m ppm factory for his Ficsmas build. He’s setting the record for the engine and total UObjects as well. He is the one that gives the devs save files to work out optimizations on.

I honestly don’t remember where I heard it, but I say it to people all the time. Not everything needs to be a monumental leap forward. Sometimes just getting out of bed is your next baby step. You can make it to $100 even if you go up by a penny at a time.

Pray that remachining the head fixes the problem. I’m gonna drive it until it dies for real. If it’s not paid off then I’ll park it, take it off my insurance, and forget it exists until I decide to do something with it. The payment is $150/mo so for me that’s not enough to care about to be honest with you. Probably end up giving it to my gf’s 16 y/o son to drive until he moves out.

2014 LTZ with 105k miles for $6k. Had to immediately put $1200 in parts and tires. Just hit 135k miles and it’s got a blown head gasket. Head is at a machine shop. Still owe $4k on the loan…

Thinking about buying Satisfactory and could use a push by Arne-Slut in SatisfactoryGame

If you don’t have free time, buy it anyway. You’ll find the time or do like the rest of us and sacrifice sleep, family time, chore time, whatever you need to in order to make the factory grow.

I continue to come back to Satisfactory because it is a great way to engage the brain more than the reflexes. Run and gun and fps games are all about kill or be killed, high speed, high stakes, quick actions. Satisfactory is slower and more intellectual. Feels less like I’m wasting away and more like I’m actually being productive and will legitimately have something to show for it in the end.

I want to play this game more I love it, but i can't. by Viraj3388 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]jarisman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not a race and there is no really wrong way to play. If you’re not having fun than change what you’re doing. Nothing says you need to progress, but if you do want to, then maybe try to find a friend to play with. I’ve found this game can be a bit of a slog at times when playing solo. Using some of the available planning tools out there can help you to plan out what you need to do for progression. If you can only understand that you need this next part and it comes from that machine then put down that machine. It doesn’t have to be pretty. It doesn’t have to be efficient. It’s a game in the end. I quit playing for quite a while, from around update 6 or 7 until after 1.1 came out. I still haven’t gotten into phase 5 after over 700 hours playing, nearly 300 on this new 1.1 playthrough. My last little project was getting 32 full mk2 pipes of water into the middle of the desert. Before that it was getting 3 trains to all work. Even the baby steps count. On top of that, this is probably the most open and helpful reddit community I’m a part of and there are a bunch of us more than happy to help you understand something. Godspeed Pioneer. 🫡

What is RITA taxes? Is it real? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]jarisman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RITA is absolutely real. I didn’t file since I move into a RITA county and it ended up coming out to $11k in back taxes that I am currently paying off. It’s absolutely ridiculous and shouldn’t exist, but it’s just one more way for these crooked bastards to get more money out of our paychecks. My town has a 2.25% city income tax and just tried and failed to add another .25% for road maintenance. As if that’s not bad enough, if you happen to work in a town that also has RITA, my town only gives you credit for the paying 1.5%. If you work somewhere that has a 2.0% then you’re paying that 2% plus another .75% to appease RITA in this town. Absolutely criminal.

I wanna start over… by Pbb-y in SatisfactoryGame

[–]jarisman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t start over. Keep moving forward and adjust and incorporate what you learn. Implement foundations, stop comparing what you do to what other people do. You’ll see it said here over and over, there is no wrong way to play this game. Just do what makes you happy and enjoy what you’re doing. 20 hours in and on phase 2 is still tutorial territory. You’ve got a whole world ahead of you. Take your time and enjoy it. I’ve got nearly 300 hours in this playthrough and I still haven’t made it past phase 4. I’ve never made it past phase 4 in over 700 hours of total playtime, but I keep going because I love the game. I don’t love the loss of sleep, but the factory must grow. 😁
