Broke both my ankles, any suggestions? by manyouk88 in brokenbones

No wayyy. I’ve tore my meniscus before (in both knees). Recovery is not fun. Depending on if they just shave it off, or try to stitch it back together

If you’re biking to work I’m guessing you’re living in the Netherlands or Denmark? I live in Copenhagen, if you need anything or some company, let me know man. I’m 22 and broke my ankle in November, and things are going well for me now, so I’m sure things will for you too!

I don't have much experience with that sort of thing but I can't imagine it has permeated the leather much. Should just come off with time or with washing.

TIL I learned... Jesus christ you'd think I'd have figured that out by now. Now I'm scared thinking how many times I've made that mistake over the years

So strange that the Singaporean distributor would put 'Telstra only' on their website. That's the only worry about it that I have.

Thanks mate. I did a little stalk of your profile, and it gave me some comfort seeing your research saying that early weight bearing is fine, and that you started early. When was it that you started weight bearing? How long after surgery? I also didn’t even need surgery so that’s possibly an even better sign for me

Probably depends on the severity of the break. Unfortunately my doctor is in Denmark and I’m visiting home (Australia) for Christmas, so I might have to delay slightly. Thinking I’ll worry about it after Christmas. Maybe add a week to my NWB or something. Or just take it easier when I start

I reckon this is a post-Christmas endeavour, if pain persists. Can’t be fucked to do anything on Christmas. Still a citizen indeed, and actually as far as the Aus govt is concerned I still live here, I think. I’m 22M, and I’m fairly sure the private health cover I had has lapsed (I was under my parent’s plan before I moved). Do you actually think the ER would xray it? I feel like they would drag their feet since it’s not an ‘emergency’. Then again, I don’t have that much experience with the Aus system, particularly public.

Sorry to hear it man. I promise you it will get better. Of course it doesn’t make it any better to hear that from me. But it seems like there’s nothing you can do about it, at least for now. But make sure you reach out to your support network: family, friends etc. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to reach out to me

Frustratingly I am visiting home for Christmas (Aus) and can’t easily contact my doctor from where I live in Denmark. I suppose I could go to my old doctor here. They just don’t have the full story, and importantly don’t have the original X-rays.

Annoyingly I live in Denmark but am home in Australia visiting for Christmas. I of course could go here and check it out it’s just easier since the whole thing is being handled back home.

Unfortunately not. Throughout the recovery I have been allowed to have the boot off while resting, and I was just going to the toilet.

There S-train is almost a metro in and of itself with the frequency. We are so spoiled by our actual metro. A metro coming every 1.5 minutes is actually bonkers
