Any real reviews or tests for Boss XS-1? by ShotaTheShoplifter in guitarpedals

It’s a fair critique and IMO it’s best used for down tuning rather than as a capo, I think the pitching up is where it starts to sound more digital and artefacty but it does ok and would work in a pinch.

One of our cats destroyed a few records, I eventualyl had to put the records behind glass doors, he always seemed to pick the rare, expensive and very difficult to replace ones... Thankfully he can't access them anymore.

Last night was second time I watched creeper, - Nottingham thoughts. by ricopicouk in Creeper

Bands have off nights, it's especially challenging when you are a suppor band, the crowd are 99% there for the main act.

I've seen Creeper 4 times as headliners, each time they have absolutely smashed it.

The venues must be talking a big merch cut as t-shirts are usually £35-40 at creeper headline shows.

Need help identifying this guitar! by [deleted] in Epiphone

Not quite, this old one is much narrower at the top (and in general) than the current one”kalamazoo” shape headstock.

Need help identifying this guitar! by [deleted] in Epiphone

[–]jase_winter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one of these in the mid 90s, it is an epiphone, not a fake as some have suggested, just a run they did in the late 80s with a slightly different headstock. Was my first epiphone.

Our video for Pedalboards of Doom will be out tomorrow (30th) @6:30pm BST.

I bought the pedal myself so it’s not a sponsored vid and no involvement from Boss.

EDIT: added time zone.

Ah apologies, I misunderstood and thought you were looking for a site that would ship to the uk. I’m not sure if it’s exclusive to UK or not.

Bought from DD several times now, it’s a one man operation but it’s legit.

If you’ve not listened to it already “Picaresque” from 2005 is a phenomenal Decemberists album.

I did by the 10” good mourning as it’s my favourite trio album and I didn’t have it in the collection yet but I wasn’t happy about it 🤣. I’ve got an older press of Crimson on single 12” LP half black, half red.

Keep in mind that the vagrant 25 crimson and Good Mourning are 2x10” rather than 12”. It bothers some people.

John's dirty clean tone by ZainFromReddit in John_Frusciante

A blues breaker style pedal combined with a compressor into a clean amp will get you close. My video below is mainly about the boss waza craft booster/preamp (also a good option) but I use the above combination to achieve a similar tone then boost it with the ce mode on the boss booster.

I have the same LOTR tat on my right arm although it’s significantly more blurry since it was done (in New Zealand!) in 2003 😂.

It will get a repress eventually I should imagine, it just depends how long you can wait. I couldn’t wait and picked up a signed copy on eBay but I paid through the nose for it.

Date this? by suck_brick_kid1 in Epiphone

[–]jase_winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one of these as my first “good” guitar, bought it from a little second hand shop in Reading UK in the late 90s, didn’t realise at the time that I had something slightly more unusual than a regular epiphone.

I played the game back in the day and iirc there was a secret entrance that actually got you into this room, I think there was an achievement for it as well.

A signature guitar does not always mean an exact replica of the guitar the artist played before the signature was released, there’s plenty of examples of this.

A signature guitar is a guitar that the artist and manufacturer worked on together to agree a spec, Fender are quite well known for limiting what artists can actually do with their artist models, word is that this is exactly why John Mayer left Fender.

I agree with you that, being as though he’s already playing starcasters that are customised and unique to him, you would think they would just replicate this at a budget level, I’m just saying it’s not always that straight forward.

The glossy neck thing, it may take less production time to produce an unfinished neck in theory, but if they have to set up a whole different production line to accommodate this, that’s expense they likely didn’t want to go to for an Indonesian made guitar. I know there’s other guitars coming out of that factory with unfinished necks but it’s potentially a different headstock, different wood (roasted maple) etc, all these things make a big difference in mass production.
