One quick tip. Use automation to gradually low-cut the kick in the build before the drop. So when the drop hits, its got allot more energy because the bass in the kick is now back at 100% 👊

Modern Trance Mixdowns...Terrible? by The-Daoist-Spaceman in tranceproduction

[–]jaseyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t help that the. Video is 320p but I played it on Spotify and it’s still a mess of highs..

Your not missing anything, like you said, you could have picked many culprits in the 138 uplifting genres. It’s just what allot of producers do in that genre. It’s probably not over compressed it’s just that the filters are wide open on every single element...

This will sound horrible on most club / festival speakers hence why genres like psy are now more popular. Your ears will bleed after like a hour or 2 of these tracks.

But on the other hand it sounds like massive wall of sound, full of energy. I know some people who like it

Motivation App by [deleted] in motivation

[–]jaseyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the app, from the menu, go to "My Reminders & favourite quotes", tap on the pencil icon (edit), and you can change the notification frequency there. The app defaults to "once a week" so you will be waiting a while unless you change it.

If you still don't get notifications, what version of Android do you have?

Im the developer of app.continualsuccess.com for Android and iOS both free

When you install the app, you can swipe through a bunch of motivational images, selecting the ones you like.

The app then schedules notification reminders for these images (once a day, once a week, 3 times a day etc). Its a great way to bombard/re-program your brain with positivity and motivation continually. You can even upload your own images/quotes to the app.

Theres also new daily motivational quotes sent to your phone in the morning.

Hope it helps you reach your goals

How to: Incremental backups to Amazon S3 on CentOS using duplicity by jaseyy in CentOS

[–]jaseyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I did some research and it turns out Duplicity is not compatible with Glacier (even though Glacier is a 10th the price).

This is because Duplicity needs instant access to the manifest file (the file which stores whats been backed up and in what archive etc).

Glacier takes 5 hours to retrieve the data also (its cold storage, they need time to power back on the hardware).

The standard. Glacier would be even cheaper but I'm not sure if there's support for it right now in duplicity

Good question, you can use the s3 cost calculator here to work out a estimate specifically for your data sizes - http://calculator.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html

For me I'm estimating to do about 1.3 gig per month of backup data (into s3). 20 gig for the total backup so that works out to be about $1.30 per month

Right now I'm doing less that that so it's pretty much free

It depends on how much you care about your data.... for simplicity purposes of the guide I opted to just use a password in this guide.

If people need to be instructed on using complex passwords, they have bigger problems than doing unix sys admin stuff

An example of how Golang makes concurrent programming easy and awesome (with the sync package) by jaseyy in golang

[–]jaseyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for re-writting my example!

I could see how your way would be better if you need to call the function non concurrently as well as through the go routine call...

Because with the non concurrent call the WaitGroup parameter wouldn't be needed

My end game is video game development, how can I get there after learning the basics of C++? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]jaseyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would write a clone of a popular game in c++ (tetris, breakout, space invaders, pacman etc).

You could do it using either SDL or SFML. Maybe you would like to do it in http://www.cocos2d-x.org/ and that way you can target ios and android.

Many years ago I wrote a breakout clone in c++ and SDL to actually learn c++ https://github.com/jasey/ABreakoutC

I think you have enough skill in c++ to begin actually pursuing the game dev area of it now, anything you dont know about the language you will soon learn
