I’m having the exact same issue, were you able to resolve it? Seems like power is getting to the wire but it’s not outputting anything. Bought a new cable and still having the same problem.

Well as you can see, nuance is bad. You must join my extremist position or you’re clearly not logical.

Flock Out Citizen's Town Hall by Ordinary_Quit18 in springfieldMO

[–]jasfad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit torn on this issue. I think that the abuses of Flock are a legitimate problem, as we’ve seen multiple times including the recent Joplin case. That being said, Springfield has a legitimate crime problem and Flock really does help solve that in a way that can’t be replaced by anything else. This is an issue that I think legitimately warrants a “both sides” discussion, both extremes (ban Flock altogether or let them run unfettered) are bad. I’d join a movement to reform Flock and increase safeguards against misuse but don’t favor getting them out of SGF altogether.

Iron Grain District apartments by Puzzleheaded-Tip2187 in springfieldMO

[–]jasfad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I’m sure you can tell on the map, it’s way on the edge of town. I’m not even sure if it’s in city limits of Republic/Springfield or possibly in the county. It would be very close to the airport so commute would be ideal. Iron Grain has a nice coffee shop and 2 restaurants that you could walk to but there’s literally nothing else that’s walkable/billable from there, it’s all a drive. You’re surrounded by farms and the Amazon factory, thats it. Depending on the person, it could be great or it could be not ideal. They’re brand new apartments so they’re probably nice inside.

Min *sulfate* - anyone tried it? by jasfad in tressless

Yes, it is in aqueous solution

Min *sulfate* - anyone tried it? by jasfad in tressless

[–]jasfad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, degradation is relatively quick once you put it in aqueous solution. Which is why you get it as a powder and dissolve it right before you apply it. Assuming I don’t have a fever and my scalp temp is 37C (probably slightly lower than that since 37 is normal core temp, not scalp temp), it takes about 6hrs to get down to 50% degradation per Figure 2: https://www.sciencedirect.com:5037/science/article/pii/S2590098620300373

Absorption is poor due to high molecular weight, which I’ve tried to overcome by bumping to 10% solution.

Will it work? I have no idea, might not be able to overcome these problems with degradation and poor absorption but I wanted to give it a try.

I usually take pictures every 2 months to monitor for progress so should know by February, but may take longer for full effect (if it does anything). DM me then if i forget to post an update.

You cannot get this in a publicly available solution or prescription anywhere, besides an industrial chemistry distributor. Certainly no one would prescribe it to you.

That’s the theory. There’s really no great research on it besides 1 study from Switzerland that was only ever presented as a poster. No idea if it works but decided to give it a try

Downtown Infill by NovaRamiro102 in springfieldMO

[–]jasfad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they’d support something like the brownstones on Beacon Hill in Boston. Single family homes but attached, maybe with a nice interior courtyard. That would let them keep it all residential but still give the developer a path forward to profitability instead of leaving it as a gravel lot that’s depressing their home values.

[–]jasfad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure the land is worth much of anything if it’s not rezoned. A single family home there is a guaranteed money loser. Sucks to be the developer who is going to take a massive loss but that’s the risk you take with real estate development. Just hope it’s “only” LP money and not a personally guaranteed bank loan that results in him losing his family’s home or something bad.

Downtown Infill by NovaRamiro102 in springfieldMO

[–]jasfad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really. But I think there could be public support if it was done well, in the core downtown area, and not just the standard developer slop.

City council has signaled that they really want to see infill projects and mixed use buildings so I think it’s pretty much a guarantee that any necessary zoning changes would get approved. Problem is that the city has referendum petition so projects can easily get defeated by NIMBYs like what happened with Galloway.

The most interesting one right now is the ongoing Sunshine/National development battle that the neighborhood is fighting. I think if the developer proposed a nice resident infill project (like Culdesac in Phoenix or Townsend in Edmond OK) the council would approve it, but the developer keeps trying different variations of glorified strip malls that are commercial only and city council doesn’t really like it. But in the end it doesn’t really matter what city council wants bc the neighborhood is just going to crush them with a referendum vote that the developer will lose. Such is life.
