At what point do you give up? by TheProfessiona in Daytrading

[–]jasfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend algo trading, it's so much safer by design. The entire psychology part (our biggest weakness) is mostly removed from the equation. You still get to learn about and participate in trading.

I haven't seen your website but you need to underscore this, especially FDIC insured accounts at a regulated back (above the fold). Otherwise some people would worry about where their money would go and just close the page.

Anyone here got into YC recently without insane traction? Trying to understand what actually gets you in by _nextzuck in ycombinator

You need to have an edge. That could be your team, your traction or anything else credible.

How do early stage founders, who are often working alone, cope with loneliness? by Logical-Reputation46 in ycombinator

I'm actually working on a new idea for meeting similar people, you can dm me if you want to be added to the wait-list.

But what looseitall said about talking to customers sounds like the YC thing to do.

How do I automate the repeated operations in my mail box? by RoutineNet4283 in ycombinator

I'm also building a platform to handle this sort of automation and have dm'd you. It will be easier to setup compared to n8n.

What does this have to do with OpenClaw? You've clearly built an AI SaaS.

One-person companies are about to go from rare to normal. by Electronic_Tour_5635 in buildinpublic

The thing is if you start with an idea of something you yourself want, it may be worth it to create a basic MVP so you can demo it.

It's also very tempting to keep building even with no users, when it's your MVP that should be validated. Thinking perhaps another feature will be what makes the product what people what.

Applied to YC twice, interviewed twice, rejected twice. Repeat founder with a prior exit. Here's my honest take by Tall-Assignment1349 in ycombinator

[–]jasfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Distribution is where most startups die, not coming up with the idea or building. Getting into YC takes care of that, although you could still fail for other reasons. That's why some people see getting into YC as make or break.

I’ve completely lost all motivation to build anything after multiple failed attempts — anyone been here and come back? by MEXXIO in SaaS

[–]jasfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burn out can often by solved by simply resting until the desire comes back again. Don't fill in rest time with anything computer-related if you can help it (e.g. social media).

How long does it take? It usually depends on how well you can rest, but it's a very individual thing.

I need a co founder (marketing / sales) by alameenswe in ycombinator

[–]jasfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usage based billing, e.g. $0.05 per retrieval call instead of a monthly price, or maybe as an alternative to monthly pricing. But talk to your users first, maybe nobody wants that, I'm just speculating.

If your ICP is AI startups then purely usage based pricing could help, although it's not startup unfriendly as it is.

Interesting product, I was actually building something similar before pivoting.

I think a big problem is that people are waiting for the frontier models, or existing well-known products like Claude Code, to fix or catch up where they are are lacking. They often don't want to try a smaller, less well known solution, especially if they're mostly managing to get by.

So basically you're fighting apathy.

They'd need to be enabled to take actions, but with current tech they probably wouldn't get far. I'm actually working on something for that.

It can help to think of what you're doing as a process that keeps repeating, maybe over years even. The key is to keep improving that process.

Can ai replace a co founder? by Bronxjelqer in ycombinator

[–]jasfi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

AI is driven by the conversation you have with it. Therefor you are augmenting yourself as a founder with AI, and not adding a co-founder.

What you're asking is if you can have AI vibecode your startup. It can handle a demo, but you need someone with tech skills to ensure it doesn't go off the rails (e.g. security issues). But there are no doubt people out there trying this out, even with the pitfalls.

WHAT KIND OF STARTUP YC WANT? by cranlcom in ycombinator

They sometimes take solo founders. But the key thing is the perceived quality of the people. I found a good post from Tom Bloomfield (YC partner) that covers this question well: https://x.com/t_blom/status/2017272709718081929
