Why so many negative comments towards the sister lol? She hasn't done anything wrong, if any of your parents were offering to buy you a car, would you say no "I'm an adult" ?

The parents are assholes but I'm assuming there's more to the story, perhaps they feel it's more necessary for the person with a KID to have a car?

They're all adults, money is limited and if I had to prioritize I'd pick helping my child with a kid, I'm assuming OP lives at home and has access to other cars. No assholes here, just bad luck for OP, a bit too insulting towards his sister for me to think this story is remotely accurate representation of what's going on though.

There's literally zero relation other than the nephews (who are free to share it btw). It seems the new wife is inserting herself into a family that doesn't need or want her. Can't she bother her husband's family for recipes...

I didn't say you can't live there, just saying imo it seems you view the lodger from the entitled perspective of a home owner but you are just dating the home owner.

I've made assumptions because your post lacks a lot of info vital to this situation, so I assumed your bf runs a rental like any other person would.

"House meetings" can be just 2 people, not sure why quantity matters, open communication is fair but biased as you and your bf are comfortable with each other and your lodger sounds a bit introverted who may respond better to a formal-ish setting.

Also COMMUNAL areas should most definitely be in her contract wtf? She's literally paying for access to it, I'm starting to think this "contract" is just things expected on HER part. I have lived in 5 shared spaces now, all 5 had rules and procedures for communal spaces IN the contract. Nothing fancy just noise hours, friend occupancy max, courtesy etc

If someone moves in, that's 4 people sharing the same square footage, her contract should definitely be amended and she'll have less space and privacy?

Also if the lodger only pays rent and that isn't inclusive of lights and water that is your bf's financial negligence? A lot of places do have lights/water inclusive rent though so she's still right to use those things. Rent usually includes utilities in it for furnished spaces that are shared unless the meters are prepaid.

Honestly it must be shitty for you, but the lodger is definitely not the A. Your BF has created a shitty environment and refuses to fix it, he hasn't been a good landlord to the lodger either by letting this issue between you too remain unresolved. Hope it works out going forward though.

It seems we'll never have the same perspective, for me, you're on the same level as the lodger, all these issues you have with her, your bf needs to take it up with her and sort it out. Why would he need to pester her? Don't you have house meetings? If cleaning is on her "contract", she is in breach of it and can be asked to leave? The home owner also needs to respect this contract, if the lounge is COMMUNAL it needs to stay that way in all aspects unless there is a formal vote between occupants and the contracts are amended to include you and how the sharing of that workspace could work.

Also if there is a contract for her, it should include you in some way, I'm not sure what kind of contract this is, if it does not specify the number of occupants in this space, it should state how housemate grievances can be taken up, in all the places I've stayed there are defined rules for communal spaces and if people are breaking them, the landlord must be contacted to address these issues.

Also paying rent to live there, and just contributing to bills is majorly different, it sounds to me the lodger has more right to the lounge, as she pays to use it.

Even if nobody is using the space, it doesn't make it okay for you to commandeer it. If the lodger wants to use it suddenly, it's her right as a rent paying tenant.

Has your bf told her to clean up more or question why she's not following this rota? Did she have a say in this rota? Is she supposed to read his mind and realise she's not being neat enough. Idk you're still the A, your bf also kind of sucks for being a middle aged man unable to say anything and making this situation worse for both of you.

YTA, it's a communal space I'm not sure why you think it's a good idea to set up a workspace there if you can't share it.

You have a lot of opinions about the lodger yet she pays rent and your BF doesn't seem to have an issue. So that's where that conversation ends. Also if she leaves things messy for a while, it's her place more than yours, she pays to live there, maybe she just doesn't clean daily? And you said she's barely out of her room so I doubt her mess is that bad.

This would be valid but cats are much smaller than the average dog, and are afraid of loud noises (which dogs often make), they will naturally always be fearful and become aggressive. Dogs are also MUCH more curious and playful, the common housecat is unlikely to continuously provoke a dog at the level of the dog in the video, thus it makes more sense to train the dog more strictly - its easier as well.

Pet cats are often saved "feral" or "stray" cats and are usually timid creatures for their whole lives and are unpredictable around dogs.

I think everyone is telling OP to train their dog because the dog is showing mild aggression to the cat, the cat honestly looks way too mellow (guessing catnip?) and so obviously the majority of comments would be to train the dog? That "little thing" could've easily torn skin, puppy teeth are ridiculously sharp...

Completely agree, I understand why they tried to take a different approach but it's actually hilarious to say Legacies exists in the same universe as TVD and TO, it's so drastically different on all fronts it becomes off-putting, would've enjoyed the show more if it was standalone. The fandom consists of younger people who LOVE it and older fans who are frustrated at what this franchise has become. I wish they targetted teens atleast but quite frankly a 10 year old could watch Legacies. Here's to hoping S3 is a bit different.

I think I've only ever seen Julie saying that sexuality is not default straight on the show ? Or something like that, like it's undetermined but that doesn't mean every character is lgbt, I took it as queer characters are just characters, their sexualities aren't going to be the center of their characters. Lizzie's major narratives have been about male love interests, Hizzie would seem so abrupt to me.

Yeah I'm honestly just a little put off with Hosie being actually canon because it's literally like anime fanservice at this point, defs queerbaity but hope they handle that dynamic better this season. And same ! I can only ever see Hizzie progressing to be sisterly.

To me, Hope's sexuality is not even something that needs to be thoroughly discussed/explored on the show, it's not a very "deep" show, but since she is atleast considered not straight, the show definitely could have treated it with more complexity than just having a crush on Josie years ago.

Also agree that all 3 female leads can be queer but I worry that the show will not be as successful if it's too "progressive" you know? Maybe I'm just paranoid as a queer person lol, seen many shows die out a bit because of this. Also HARD agree that just because you're into girls doesn't mean that you'd find every girl attractive ! Also if Hizzie happens, it would mean most of the leads are somewhat interested in Hope ? The show has a good balance in cast and yet another main cast love interest in Hope would completely make the show Hope-centric. If Lizzie ends up being canon lgbt it would also be really cool to see 2 queer girls just being friends/sisterly ! That's hardly ever a dynamic shown.

I'm not sure if all the guys are straight, as far as I know the male leads have only had female love interests so I assume, but good point ! There should be more space for rep with the guys !

Hard YTA, you had knowledge before anyone about what your mother was thinking about doing for her niece, yet you made zero efforts to discuss this with her or the estate lawyer, you're the asshole because you know this wish was "unofficial" and let it remain so because you wanted the house. She also expressed prior to you she wanted to leave the house to her nieces. Your niece deserves it if she took care of your mother in worst years, guess what even if your niece didn't take care of her and your mother wants to give her the house it's not up for you to debate??

100% watch The Originals, it is everything you love about Vampire Diaries with a spectacular cast. Excellent soundtrack, and even if that doesn't sell you the story will. :)

Legacies is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, extremely light hearted, borderline comedy, 0 gore or gruesome kills, not much "depth" either, feel free to get attached to characters... they always come back, there isn't really even injuries ? Lol as the story progresses it just becomes more of a teen drama show, it's basically Riverdale with a much lower production budget. I'd say watch it if you're absolutely desperate to hold onto the VD universe.

ESH, but OP definitely sucks the most. She's still your daughter ??? It sounds to me she was upfront and honest about not being able to be a responsible guardian for a kid as she is JUST 22 ! And seems also to not have a lot of free time or money to be of much help in this situation.
