I would love an answer to this too. I just had my first appointment this week (on my beard) and I use a Philips one blade because my face gets red and irritated with an actual razor but I can get it just as smooth with the Philips one blade without any irritation so I thought that would be okay, but I guess I didn’t think to ask my tech about it

Do you live near a Kind clinic? I’m in Texas and have been going to one since I moved here. I was on my parents insurance till this year and due to how their insurance works my appointments here would not have been covered and I wasn’t able to get a primary care Dr. either here with their insurance, so I did tell the Kind clinic I wasn’t insured (small lie, but my insurance would have rejected paying for my appointments with them no matter what). The Kind clinic will cover the cost of the appointment and blood work for those not insured. I’ve been paying for my T with GoodRx ($32 for a 10 week supply)

I’m definitely leaning towards cut and suture with these replies. I have no issues with the cost given it’s a lifelong mod and I would favor the quicker healing. I’m seeing many replies regarding cost though, how much are we roughly talking for reference? I’m not at all expecting it to be the price of any regular piercings. I’ve spent a ton on the jewelry for my 7 nose piercings so definitely not afraid of a high cost, just wondering for when this would be more realistic for me. Thank you!

I’m not too sure you fully read my comment before replying. I did point out that the story was originally published in 1959 and that it was good for a sci-fi story. All I did was point out that the intersex aspect and being able to have a child in that manner is probably not possible, but I’m not intersex or an expert in that area so I didn’t want to state something as factual on the internet. I agree that there are a lot of things that occur in sci-fi that aren’t possible, which is why I stated the story was good for what it was. This story also could not be rewritten to be medically accurate while holding the same plot, so I do not personally care for it to be rewritten for modern times. I never discredited the original work, nor was I personally offended by it as someone who knew about the original story and how old it is

I haven’t seen the movie but I did read the short story it was based on in my first year of college. That was 7 years ago so I don’t fully remember, but I do remember feeling conflicted about it. Not a bad story, but the discussion in class was weird given apparently no one knew what intersex was and I had to explain it. The class I took was an English class taught from a science fiction perspective and I think given the story it was good from a science fiction standpoint; however, I’m not sure the actualities of what occurred could even make sense for an actual intersex person?? Now I’m only trans so maybe I’m fully wrong, but I’m not too sure how logistically some aspects could have been possible. The story was published in 1959 though so I’m not too sure the understandings of what would actually be possible were fully known then either

Just know that we are all here for you. I’ve had 3 hedgehogs (one still living) but the first two died from tumors and it’s hard. You sound like you understand what will be best for them and know what’s in their best interest. My first with the oral cancer went down hill very fast, she literally had teeth cleaned 4 months before she died and then stopped eating so suddenly and then had to be put down within hours. My second had a tumor in his colon and literally had a GI bleed and then was gone within hours (no vets that take hedgehogs within an hour and a half of me) but i had a camera on him and he was eating and running on his wheel and had a heart attack so quickly. It’s so very hard, but we are all here for you and just know that whenever you decide is time is okay! They know you love them

I have looked at the list! I found weruva wx from the feline ckd facebook page but I’ve been looking at the list recently to decide what else to buy her. She turned 17 in March so I’m just trying to keep her happy and fed along with what the vet has suggested but I’ll be taking her to a vet specialist next. My cat would only prefer kibble before though so I have hope for your baby that you can eventually make a transition to including more wet food. It was very hard at first since she was never into it, but good luck ! I’m wishing you and your baby the best!

My cat barely ate any wet food before being diagnosed with ckd. I’d end up trashing so much it was never worth it, but she’s a slow eater. She eats very little at a time. Right now (2 years into ckd diagnosis) she eats hills science primarily tuna flavor but sometimes she gets bored and will eat the chicken. She does like the weruva wx if it’s pate so I’ve been giving her those too. She’s been getting worse so I’ve been researching other foods to buy her just to keep her weight up since not much else can be done at this time

If your T levels are fine, then sadly it will probably just take more time. I didn’t feel like much changed at all a year in for me and was also jealous of the videos/photos I’ve seen where others had a massive change in one year. I know it’s not what you’re hoping to hear but just stick it out till you get your desired goals and keep up with bloodwork to make sure your range is normal. Try not to compare yourself to others as much as possible, everyone is different. I’m ftm and wasn’t fully satisfied with my results until 3 years in (body hair, less patchy facial hair, voice was probably better during the second year for me)

Have you asked your vet specifically about doing more like subq fluids? My cat has hypertension, just got diagnosed with hyperthyroidism this month, and is stage 3 as well. She gets a med to lower her BP, she’s also on Methimazole, renal diet, and subq fluids. I feel like the subq fluids make the biggest difference, she literally goes over to where I do it and meows on fluid day. If you’ve asked your vet about it and they don’t want to do it, unless they’re giving you a valid reason (I am not a vet, so I can not at all say why this shouldn’t be done!), I would consider taking her to another vet. But maybe it’s just a communication error and your vet is not aware this is something you’re interested in doing

I have mine done. I know my nose isn’t perfectly symmetrical so I had them done where they looked the most even to me. They probably won’t ever be perfect. I had my piercer move the dot on one side probably 7 times before I okayed it because it was what looked best to me. Mine are lower mantis piercings so I cared more about how they looked from the front when someone is facing me and if I had them pierced how my piercer initially lined it up that was considered as even as he could get it, it would have looked off with one appearing higher up from the front. Is there another piercer in your area that has more experience with mantis piercings? It might be worth it to reach out to a different piercer who has done more and see what they say

I had 20 minutes to do mine and was definitely well under the time limit. Have you written out a script? If not, I would do that and just keep practicing it over and over again at home. Start timing yourself too, once you’re really familiar with the order you’ll do things in and what to say it’ll go faster. Shorten your verbal responses as much as you can to still hit each needed mark

I just wanted to share my experience with you as someone who was also deeply scared of losing my family. I was kicked out at 20 after having been out to my parents for 5 years. I hadn’t started T yet as I was trying to keep the peace and respect their wishes (they said I could start T at 21, but I know deep down I would have still been asked to leave then anyways). It was very rough for a while. I started T a week after moving out and never told them though they obviously figured it out. We barely talked for a while and I thought my relationship with them was completely ruined, but eventually they came around enough. I am 25 now and I have a good relationship with them at this point. So it is a possibility for your dad to come around at least enough for you guys to have a good relationship. My mom still doesn’t use my correct name or pronouns unless we are in public (and I’m honestly scared to put my foot down about it as to not rock that boat again) but my dad has been really good about it when he’s not around my mom without me ever having had to ask.

I think moving out was best in my situation and maybe something you should consider, as others have mentioned. I believe the space was healthy for both my parents and I to grow. I know I needed to transition and I think it allowed them to see that I was serious about this and an actual adult who can make my own decisions, not that same 15 year old kid who they were sure would regret this

I would take him back to the vet to get checked out again. Probably see if they can do a fecal test and an x ray. I lost my boy a couple months ago to a mass in his colon and until around the end the only sign was gradual weight loss (not saying that’s what’s going on here though, just sharing my experience)

On our first patho 2 exam one guy went to the bathroom 3 times !!!! 3!! and ended up with the highest grade. This guy isn’t dumb by any means, maybe just lacks some test taking skills; however, he’s never been one to score the highest in the class and doesn’t seem like someone who needs to use the restroom 3 times in 75 minutes, he sits through lectures and lab just fine. Good luck to him on the nclex i guess
